Can a Redding Type S 6 BR Bushing Full Length Die also work on a 30BR ?

Hi,

Just starting to gather the equipment to shoot 30BR. I was wondering if a Redding Type 3 6 BR full length resizing die (77317) will work on a 30BR (of course -- assuming that I use the correct bushings) ?

you will probably have to open up die where neck goes through to bushing

No problem with carbide tooling and a lathe if you can get that done

So then -- is it possible to go the other way ? use a 30BR FL die for 6BR (with the appropriate bushing) ? Just trying to save some $$

I've got a 30br bredding fl bushing die that i'll trade for like condition 6br fl bushing die.

It can but I've often seen the unsized portion of the shoulder create tight chambering.

I just purchased a 30BR redding fl die from Brownells (received a good discount today).

Currently, I have a Forster 6br set with FL die that has been honed out to .263 if you are interested at all (I am thinking of going to a Redding S FL die for the 6BR as well) ?

I run a no turn 6br so it won't work for me but thanks anyway. I've had a pile of those dies and sold them over the years. Frankly, I can't believe I am currently without one for a 6br. Oh well.

The issue that comes around alot is the factory dies are usually based off of br-rem brass. The 7br is 99% going to be br-rem brass not the lapua chamber we usually use for 6br and most certainly the 30br

If you bump the shoulder back .001 that should mean that the entire neck was resized — right?

When we began messing with the 30 BR, I purchased a Redding Type S Rem. 7mm die - that die works great for the body, but even it required opening the neck-port: for brass turned to 0.0098, for a .330 chamber NK, and .3283" loaded round, it sized the necks more than I desired, which was/is. .324" bushing. As Dusty pointed out, with a carbide boring tool, easy to do. RG
