Sightron S-Tac 4-20

I own a 6-24, 8-32 and newest 10-50 w/ zero stop and love all 3 models. Priced higher of course than the STAC models they also appear a bit better optically. Sightron's are just hard to beat dollar for dollar.

Of the entire S-TAC line, only one would qualify under modern standards as any kind of tactical scope. That is the S-TAC 4-20x50FFPZSIRMH. Duplex reticle? Second focal plane? Nope.

The IR IMO is the only advantage to that new STAC FFP scope. FFP is nice for those wanting it for tactical comp or ranging as well as the MH reticle. I'd love to see an IR on the SFP MOA2 reticle. For a hunting scope, the IR is the only thing missing.

Nobody ranges using the reticle anymore. FFP's main use these days is to ensure your wind holds and hold overs are valid at any power you may be at.

It is hilarious to to put a graduated "tactical" reticle (MOA reticle at that) in a 4-20x SFP scope, when the reticle is only accurate at 20x.

In this one line of scopes Sightron has so much potential, and yet so much fail.

Exactly, that's my point with FFP scopes. All SFP scopes must be set at the highest power magnification to use the reticle for additional minutes, not just the STAC. Using the additional Minutes of the reticle to get extra range. Many people do use the mildot reticle for ranging. Rangefinders are not allowed in many tactical competitions.
