1 in 14 shilen 223rem

Anyone here shooting a 1 in 14 shilen barreled 700 action in 223 remington? If so can I get some info on load data. And what powders are better for lighter bullets? So far i have benchmark, varget, 8208xbr, cfe223, and tac. I'm really trying to find a lighter load for the 8208xbr as I have about 10lbs of it. Cant seem to figure this gun out for a lighter load. Right now my best load is benchmark with a 62gr nosler bullet. Weird but it works. I wanna get something lighter tho as I believe that 62gr is just to heavy. Thanks

For 50 to 55 grain bullets I have always had the best luck with H322, AA2200 and CFE223. Each barrel seems have its own preferences, but the above work in several of mine over the years.

25.o gr benchmark with a 53gr or 55gr nosler varmageddon.

27.0 gr of H335 with a 40 gr vmax. Shoots 3/8" groups or less all day

28.0 - 748 with a bare 50gr.
27.0 - H335 with a moly 50gr. can shoot this in temps of 100* Northern Colo and Wyoming.

25.0 H335 with 55 Nosler BT (H335 shot better than Benchmark in my barrel...)
27.0 Win748 with 50 gr (Nosler/Speer...)

+1 on LT32, I love this stuff. H322 is about the same I
used to use it myself just not as refined. In the old days we used IMR4198, most of these recommendations is fine. You need a selection of powders so you have choices. Personally didn't have any luck with H335 but you really never know

24.7 grains of lt32 and a 52 Berger or smk, or Fowler.
Agreed on the powder and bullet recommendations. Cited load is on the [overly] hot side per Accurate Powders’ handloading guide, so usual caveats apply.

LT-32 23.5grs
N133 24.5 grs
H4895 26.4 grs

Berger 52 Match bullets

i have a 1 in 14 twist Shilen on a Savage Target action
LT-32 is the best, but got to watch the humidity levels here in S. Florida

work up to these loads in your rifle

H335 (WC844) by the 8 lb jug....can't find the surplus stuff cheap any more unfortunately. I've found nothing better in my 223's and 223 AI, dynamite with the lighter bullets.......which is what a 223 in the hands of hunter was meant to shoot.....

I liked 8208 for the heavy bullets, and found that it was all over the place until you found the right load. It seemed to like to live in the upper charge weight range.

I have shot 25.1 gr. of N133 / 52 gr. match bullets in several .223's and one had a Hart 14 twist barrel. This is not a maximum load but it was super accurate.
I'll agree with this...several guns i've had have really liked 24.5 or 24.7 of N133 with 52 grainers.

In my experience if H335 will not shoot bug holes, there is something wrong with the rifle! :D:D:eek:

25gr of H335 under a 55gr bullet is my go to in any rifle to start with. Some I add a tenth or two, others I take away, but it's always been a great combo.
