Anyone heard of a .336 neck 30br?

I went to send someone brass for a 30br, and he mentioned that he had a no turn neck. We discussed it more, and then he said it was a .336 no turn neck. I immediately thought maybe he is building a hunting rifle, and wanted that extra clearance. He said no it was a benchgun.

Anyone else heard of such a thing.

PS.... He also said that his smith told him it was a Robinett Reamer...… (add another one to your list @RGRobinett )

The plethora of reamers out there, bearing my name, but ground to other dimensions, should cause the reamer maker(s) shame . . . but I'm probably wrong . . . again!

I'll repeat my mantra, "a reamer bearing a single dimensional alteration is no longer the same reamer: it's something different" . . . not necessarily worse, or, better, but different . . . RG

I have a 0.336 30 BR reamer and when I shot VFS my brass had a no turn neck.

I do turn, but it makes the clearance a bit big...I think I errored in the 334 number when I spec't the reamer.
did not account for neck thinning when sizing up.
it still shoot well

Are you saying you don't neck your brass up to .30 cal, you run a 30BR reamer in a 6mm barrel and load and shoot?

Lots of 6ppc shooters do that except with a 22 cal barrel and a 6ppc reamer.

I think Jackie Schmidt does something like that too with his 30br

no, barrel has a 0.243 bore and has a 6BR chamber and I open up the neck to 0.336 with a neck reamer with a 0.243 bushing
barrel is now a fireforming barrel without 6mm bullets bouncing off sides of the bore and being unsafe.

The 243 and 308 bushings are different size ranges and wont interchange. One is the #2 range and the other is the #3 range

I think it’s a good idea, but may I ask what is unsafe about sending a .243 bullet down a .308 barrel? I did this forming some ppc brass sent 223 down a fire form 6ppc barrel. Granted you don’t shoot but 30-40 yards into very big dirt berm/ditch. Just curious cause the ppc cases formed beautifully.

Its the best way. Load a 22 bullet into a 220 russian case and fire it in a 6ppc barrel

you cant put a 6mm size bushing on a 30cal size tool. Its a whole different range. A 30cal reamer where the bushing rides is bigger than 243 to start with

Measuring the inside of the necks on those .336 'no turn' 30BR's will be very revealing.

you can ask a reamer manufacturer to build a 336 neck reamer fitted with a 243 bushing, don't make in too complicated!

I will say my loose neck shoots very well with barts and lt powder
