5R 220 Swift

I see no problem. Have used 5R on some very high velocity rounds. A properly throated, fast twist Swift with heavy bullets would be a fine load.
There may be better cartridge choices but you asked about the Swift.

Is there any reason not to use 5R rifles barrel for 220 Swift? Barlow

Hey Barlow,
If this is going to be a heavy bullet gun, then no problem with 5R rifling.
If you are planing to use 50/55/60 grain stuff, then stay with the 4 groove.
5R doesn't seem to like light for caliber bullets(short bearing surface). In the Benchrest game shooting our 65/66/68 grain bullets in the 6PPC we all use conventional rifling. If i was shooting a Dasher with 105's, i'd be using 5R
