Carbon Fiber barrels??

Are the rimfire CF barrels actually CF wrapped, like a centerfire barrel, or are they just a carbon fiber sleeve that makes them look the same as an actually CF wrapped barrel??

If the rimfire barrels are made the same as a CF wrapped centerfire barrel, they are only lighter when compared to an equal diameter all steel barrel, but they'll be substantially less rigid than an equal diameter all steel barrel. When you compare a smaller contour all steel barrel that weighs the same as a CF wrapped barrel, the steel barrel is still slightly more stiff.

When you boil all the marketing off, it comes down to aesthetics and "cool factor" of how they look. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that, I have a couple Proof Research CF centerfire barrels, but I'd be lying if I didn't admit the only reason I bought them was because I like how they look. I like how a larger contour barrel looks but didn't want the extra weight of a larger contour all steel barrel.

I have a VQ on my 10/22, it shoots very well. as with any 22lr, you kinda have to sort through what works and what doesn't. I keep that gun to hunting distances, 50yds and in, and it performs well. It makes the gun very easy to handle, but a bit twitchy as it's very light. I use CCI segmented subsonics for hunting and it'll hold about .5in at 50yds usually.
