CZ 457 Varmint MTR and GECO Match .22lr Ammo

I have a CZ 457 Varmint MTR mount with a Weaver Classic V 4-16X with fine line crosshair and target dot reticle.
I've been shooting Eley SV which shot okay, then I tried GECO Match .22lr.
The target on the left was 5 fouling shots from a clean and cold barrel. The right hand target was 5 shots after fouling. Both were shot at 50 yards.

The 457 MTRs are mostly pretty good shooters - yours looks like one of the good ones! Mine shot 2.5"-3" 10-shot groups at 210yds a couple of times with select lots of either SK LR Match or Lapua Center-X. Eventually - after shooting a few novelty targets at 50yds and being disappointed with the results - I decided to pull the OEM bbl, took a light truing cut on the action's face, and spun up a Shilen select match ratchet rifled .850" straight blank for mine. Chambered it with a PTG EPS reamer, finished it at 22", and feel the improvement was well worth the time & expense. Next step will be to drill out the poly pillars, glue in aluminum replacements, and after that epoxy has cured for 24hrs, go ahead with a full bedding job.

Oooh weee!!!! That does sound like a lot of work!!! Keep me updated on how it shoots after all is said and done.

Two questions re the MTR:

1. What is the max width of the forearm?
2. Where can I get one, new? I checked 8 pages of Google links and zero in stock. Contacting CZ was of no help.

Thanks!

The forearm is about 2 1/2 to 3 inches wide, I did measure it but that's what it looks like.
As fare where to get one, I found mine on Gunbroker. com.
But, after trying to locate one for you, it looks like they are out of stock. Sorry.
I did see the CZ 457 .22 cal lr At-One in stock. They are a good looking rifle too.

Nice thing about Geco is that their .22lr is made by RWS. Check the headstamp. I believe it is RWS Target (as opposed to Match or R50). Norma's Match ammo is also made by RWS and has shot every well for me in my Win. 52.

Give these guys a call, they may be able to help you find what you are looking for . They are great folks to deal with ,they found a CZ shotgun that I could not find anywhere on the internet .
