Bat drop port...

Looking at putting together a new rifle for my youngest grandson.
I have a Borden drop port and am very happy with it but the Bat caught my eye with their version.
Does anyone have any first hand experience with the bat ?
Likes, dislikes flaws malfunction etc. any input would be appreciated so I can make a decision between the two.

Stiller patented the drop port. Guess that ran out. I had one of the first ones. Main thing he stressed was the safety of the remington style bolt nose

Defiance makes a drop port with a Remington nose and extractor. The full diameter bolt of the Nuevo drop port seals the loading port from any debris if there was a failure, and it uses a sliding plate extractor. The Borden drop port uses an extractor similar to a 1911 and is not exposed to the outside of the bolt. The Bat B.MB,DS,M, ext use a sako extractor. The only times I have ever seen a drop port hang up it was do to the the Remington extractor.

I had heard that with the Sako extractor that in the event of a failure the Sako extractor would become a safety issue.
I believe it was Dale Woolum jr. who mentioned that.

It would depend on the port orientation. A rt/rt would encapsulate the extractor a port on the left could be exposed.

Jerry sold his CF business a few ago and he has been very successful in becoming the dominate ARA action supplier with his recent 2500X action. Killough Shooting Sports his is exclusive supplier.

Dusty, the ARA & the PSL shoots could easily be your next bad habit. RF Benchrest is a great way to hone your wind reading skills at 50 yds. The RF shoots are usually in the a.m. on Saturdays.

I have a couple but cant get into it because of the ammo. I do love it though

Easy to spend $1000+ on Eley ammo.....ammo is a huge part of being competitive in the ARA & PSL events.

I have a case plus of tenex and 2+ cases of xact. I could use federal premium custom shop in centerfire matches cheaper. And im not even considered moderately prepared for a rimfire match
