6bra new barrel ,

Ok guys got new barrel from Brux , 236 bore 1 in 8 twist 29in finished, took everything apart cleaned rebedded action. Started at same load 30.5gn h4895 , crap, still not shooting, Sooo on a whim loaded 31.5gn varget , wham ! 1in group at 300yds with 105 Berger vlds at touch , going to test at 5 thou and 10 thou in today , looks like bad lot of h4895 glad I didn't get but a couple of pounds. May try some vv powder also so far so good.

H4895, has been all over the place lately. 30.5 is too hot on first load..I started at 29.5 and PP only lasted 8-9
firing, going too start @ 28.5, then 29.5, then my comp load of 30.5..5 in, thank god for having a fireform barrel.

Ar comp. Try it. I bet you don't go back. It is pretty much exactly the same speed from my tests. I love the stuff.

Even shoots good in 243. Which is nuts.

In 95 degree heat that was 3050 in my 104 Freebore with the Berger 108.

Then when the temp dropped to 40 degrees a week later it was about 2980 which correlates to what you should see for air density drop.

I was looking at the loads listed in the 6Bra thread. The velocity for the charge range for the two powders is virtually interchangeable.

Using the old school method, shoot an measure , looks around 2925

The day I tested was 70 degrees, this barrel only has 60 rounds down the tube, should speed up some as I go. Mirage and wind was dancing the target at 250 yds , still managed a 1.042, 1.035 and 0.977 , at 100 got 0.299 ,shoot best at 5 thou jam will try 6 thou and 7thou in next . Opened up at 10 thou jam, may look for another node pass that.
