Home made 1 piece rimfire BR rest.

About 6 weeks ago I stepped off into the black hole of 22 rimfire bench rest shooting. Spent a crapload of $$$ for a custom rimfire rifle, Turbo action, Muller 7 groove barrel, Harrells tuner, Jewell trigger, Lidguard stock, that shoots lights out. What a hoot!
Shooting off my SEB Neo works but I was lusting for a 1 piece rest to shoot the rifle off of. Having a mill, lathe and a butt load of tooling I decided to fab my rest. Borrowing a friends rest to model mine after, here is what I have so far with a little over $200.00 in materials. Looking forward to shooting off of it next week.

Looks good.
Yep the knowledge and the labor is why they cost 1k.
Do you have bronze bushings where the bolts go through the post, windage and elevation ?

Right now they are just tapped 3/8x24. Figuring that there will be minimal rotation on the 3 positions I left them tapped and lubricated. If need be, I can drill and ream the holes then install bronze bushings later.
I have about 30 hours in this project so far, still need to fab the top.
What a hoot so far!

Here's the rifle that will ride the rest. The rest looks familiar.

Not sure about the species of the wood, I was told that the stock was crafted by Brent Lidgard.
Nice project Pat!!
It sure is fun getting new toys.
I really like that stock also with the light n dark grain contrast.

Our is just a couple ofblocal clubs but the rules wont allow 1 piece rests. There is also a couple of the major associations that dont allow one piece rests, but cant remember which ones.

As I said, just curious. I know the American Rimfire Association allows them.

Most club matches are two piece.

Only unlimited in ir 50 ....the other classes require two piece.

I've got a Arnold ..which is what that one seems to resemble.

The crowd really frowns on lookalikes even though there is not a pat on em. Pappas has been copied by several but upgrades make them different.
The pqp is a good example of upgrades.

I believe some classes in ABRA allow one piece rests but not all. Factory class requires two piece rests.

Our ARA affiliated club here in Albuquerque follows the ARA rules which do allow one piece rests in both Unlimited and Sporter classes.
Yes, it is modeled after an Arnold. I really don't think that Arnold is going to worry about an individual fabbing a single lookalike for personal use.
I've never been concerned about what the crowd thinks.
