Texas folks question?

Wow never heard of stapling the mouth shut. Defanging them is easier. You can release the snake after training and the next set of fangs move in in about a week.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I’m negotiating with a seller for a house in Kerrville, Tx. I have two small dogs I need to protect. I appreciate the input!

We train amateur, and I have a professional trainer. We have high end hunt test dogs. We do yearly snake training. Basically you get a rattler, staple its mouth shut, put it out in the feild then walk up on it with a dog on a leash and shock collar on turned all the way up. When the dog goes to sniff it, and or the snake strikes, light up the dog with the collar. They learn quick and dont want nothing to do with that sob. Refresh their memory every year.

Most dogs will come unglued and freak out, yelp, and not want anything to do with the snake. Once they see it again, they are headed the other way. Works fairly well.
my wife needs that training for shoes!! how many freaking shoes does someone need??? guns are another issue entirely...

I snake broke our Airedale with a rat snake and electric collar on high. Till the day he died he would do a back flip if he stepped on a round stick. If he smelled or saw a real snake it was evident!

Don't know how you would give them the correct amount unless it was made for a dog....
They make an Epi pen and a Epi Pen jr. Regular Epi Pen is for patients greater than 30kg. or 66 pounds. Jr. is for patients 15 to 30 kg. 33 to 66 pounds. Ask your vet would be my best answer.

I’m signing the offer in 10 minutes. Fingers crossed.
What’s the “feet on the ground” feeling down there? Is Beto’s movement going to get legs? Should I bring my semi autos and 30 round magazines?

I give Norman 2 , 30mg tablets in a piece of buttered bread and down they go. He is a german short hair that is not long for this world. Hence he is my best friend and never had a dog so loving and attached to me. If you google how many to give , it goes by weight. My dog is 68 pounds so his dose is 60 mg.

Ha... it’s not a matter of need, it’s a matter of filling the available space to store them! When that’s full, my wife simply donates the ones she doesn’t like, and/or hasn’t worn, and buys more!

Talk to your new neighbors. They can give ya' the low down on the snake situation. I'm in Western Oklahoma, some places you'll find snakes, some places ya' don't. But there's always the chance of stumbling on a stray prairie rattler.

Hey joshb. When I lived in TN rocks meant watch for snakes. Not trying to scare you just FYI. And I grew up in the Catskill Mts. in NY state same applied up there.

I ain’t scared!:eek:It could be kinda fun loading up the 38 with snake shot and going hunting!;);) My dogs like to explore. I’m just worried about them.
I also got “chased” by a rattler in the Catskills when I was a kid, fishing the streams around Lake Huntington, NY.

Welcome to Texas. Is that high fence in the back ground? Someone asked about scorpions you will see plenty. That area is gorgeous. Next door neighbor has a jack russell mix and it was bit 2 time a week apart. it did fine.
