270 WSM question

I don't hunt much any longer but have taken several deer and pigs with copper bullets NOT because I wanted to but because I had to. California's condor crap.... all BS

I did take awhile to figure them out drop 20 grains below what normal lead bullet weight to keep any accuracy, drop 30 grains to get the expansion performance. Have had probably more copper bullet experience than most anyone I know. Still not a fan, The early days 10-15 years ago I had copper bullets that would blow up on the hide others that would travel end to end severing the spine with slight expansion all killed because of placement. I have seen great improvement in copper bullet design and performance the last few years, especially in the fouling department much better now, I had to just get use to it.

the copper thing: not trying to be an outlaw here, but do the squirrel cops check your pockets for ammo???--am I missing something??

Had a 270 WSM and my best load was a hundred 50 grain Nosler partitions or 140 grain accubond and by far I am our 7828 was the best power had really high velocity loads and those Nosler partitions and accubond really knew how to do the job.

You shot an Elk with a 95 gr bullet and it went through and through what ever that means,

Did it drop the Elk or did it run off and finally die or Did it kill cleanly?
Sorry no education required I’m fine , I’ll stick with a little heavier bullet thank you
You need it ! So here goes, I'm going to attempt to pour a gallon of information into a shot glass. Light lead bullet's are no good because they shed particles and loose weight rapidly, this could be called( blow up) or bullet failure. Results in a lack of penetration. Copper bullet's are the opposite to this, in that they can not and do not loose weight or shed particles. So it doesn't matter how fast you push them they enter at 95 any exit at 95. Low velocity= low penetration. Medium velocity= more penetration. High or super high velocity= extreme penetration. They go through bones like nothing and go through animals at any angle. They are not, i repeat not like lead bullet's except they are fired from guns. Lead bullet's require weight to accomplish proper penetration, copper bullet's require speed for proper penetration.

Uncle SPJ.... so the ammo I loaded for my bud, he shot yesterday this rifle most defently likes IMR 4451 great groups with the 130g Nosler E-tip and the 100g Hornady GMX the best group 100 g GMX, told him! I said it would Ha...... guess what one I am loading for him.. you guessed correctly the 130 Gr Noslers IMR 4350 looked like a pattern rather than a group, H 4831 was not bad but 1" versus .75 for the IMR 4451 130g and .5 for the 100g
