7MM WSM HELP

Ok, I have a custom 7mm wsm, barnard action, lilja barrel 30" 1.25 dia, robertson composites stock) on the way and I need some help with the reloading end of it.
I think I once read where a guy found it was better to neck up 270 wsm brass instead of using the 7mm wsm brass.
I plan to use either 168 or 180 bergers. What loads/powders seem to work best in this caliber?
Any other loading tips for this cartridge would be greatly appreciated.

7mmwsm is different than 300wsm and 270wsm. Is your chamber being cut as a 7mmwsm or 7mm\300wsm? The later is the only way you can use 270 or 300 brass.

The difference is the length of the neck. The 270 and 300 have longer necks. The 7mm has a bit more powder capacity. They all have the same trim length.

There is a whole list of powders that shine with the 7mm WSM, I take it they throated the chamber for the longer bullets? They probably did for that barrel length. H4831sc, RL22, H1000, retumbo. I haven't heard a lot about what people are getting yet with RL17, but it was designed for the WSM's. You might look at using some milder loads in that long barrel and get a little extra barrel life. The extra barrel length will gain you some velocity. I haven't used the Tubb's throat maintenance system yet for my 7mm WSM, but I plan to use it soon,300 rounds down the tube) in order to gain some barrel life. Great cartridge. Don't overlook the 175 SMK's. They shoot as good as anything in my gun. I have settled on 64 grains of H4831sc with the 175's, be careful working up to it. Have fun.

I use RL22 and 168gr bergers and it is a one hole gun and its a factory winchester classic sporter barrel. and factory winchester brass works good.

I agree with most of the powders stated above, but don't forget RL-25. My 7WSM loved it. I only gave it up becuase it didn't seem to like the summers in Vegas - a bit too HOT. H1000 is my ticket to happiness now.

Is there any accuracy advantage in using the 270 wsm brass with a longer neck necked up to the 7mm or is it simply a case of longer barrel life and brass availability?
