Another "how to" stock repair thread.

One thing I have noticed is that if I put “fragile” or “handle with care”on the box it gets put through the gauntlet. If no labels or anything it makes it A-OK! I think that puts a big ole target on your box for everyone that touches it.
I quit writing fragile do not bend or crush after the firs one got hammered.

Shops clean. Bedding is masked.
Time for a final wipe and spray.

How’ bout telling the client to send the stock in a foam lined gun case in a box, thru the post office. That’s how I send my stuff to my smith. Oh, and insure the crap out of it! I hate to see your beautiful work defaced! They should pay! UPS, that is! File a claim!

Claims filed!!! Its been brought to my attention USPS pays out on about 16% of all claims filed. I ain't holding my breath.
I'm hitting up a few LGS this weekend to see if I can find a box to fit a case I have to mail this back.

I always ship firearms and stocks in a cheap hard case. Lock it down with good zip ties. You can get some of the Plano cases for $20. Cheap insurance. Can also place the case in a box to keep it incognito.

Thanks I'll probably go this route, says I'll have it Monday. I will be polishing this out on Tuesday for shipping that afternoon.
I have a few more stocks lined up with this gentleman and would make both our lives easier.

Well its sprayed still needs a nib n polish before shipping.
I'm buying a plano case as suggested by
@Ledd Slinger at the end of this post.
I recieved this stock back 37 hours ago as I write this 6 beers and 7 coats of clear later I'm done!
It's hard to believe that I was sanding bondo in the shop an hour before painting.
As I said before I stand behind my work, but I'd like to add.
"I work for YOU, because without YOU I wouldn't work!"

I never worked so hard in my life, and for so little as when I worked for a guy with my first and last name.

I just recieved this one today from another forum memberView attachment 1118839now lets look at shipping costs!!!View attachment 1118840
Hehe then he opened it and found it packed in 5 pounds of brand new shop rags. Packaging cost zero. Shipping ouch. Made it in one peice, not quite priceless but 600 ish.

Gauranteed bcz will make it beautiful, he has freedom of expression on it. Just has to take some good pics of it with his model

And to the other point of the thread, how to repair a stock. Box it up and send it to bcz. He has major repairs to make to mine. I cant believe ed shilen let his wife shoot a rifle that looked this poor.

Nice... wish I could find some thick spiral wrap cardboard!
How close are you to terre haute, Indiana i can get you some. In 6" id .25, .375 ( what i used pictured), .5, or 1.0 wall thickness. Small amounts only though and not really long, work would be mad i took it.
