V3 Auto Trickler Released!

Does anyone know the height of the fx120 scale with the autothrow on top. Just ordered mine yesterday and want to check the clearance for a shelf that will be directly above it.

Received my V3 upgrades, electronics and new base. I have to say that I'm disappointed that Adam has still not made the new base to offset or rotated the powder hopper so the o-ring does not rub on itself where it crosses itself. Simple to do with 3D printing. I also found that the third screw that mounts the hopper cannot be accessed due to the brass insert for the adjustable leg.
Still looking forward to using the V3 electronics.

Strange, I had no problems with the three screws for the trickler body.

Did you use the screws provided with the new trickler housing? it's allen pattern screws and not the original phillips. The 90* allen wrench also comes with the housing so you can screw in that 3rd screw.

I purchased the housing separately made a mistake and actually use the phillips screws from my original housing. luckily i had another tool which enabled me to screw in that 3rd screw.

It boils down to how many operations you want to be doing, repeatedly. If you're only loading a few rounds, having a separate device to do the initial powder drop is fine.

However, when you sit down to do 100 or 200 or more loads, things get a little trickier, and I find this to be even more so as I age. With the autothrow, powder loading is quick and easy for me; only one device to monitor. When I put in the empty cup, the Autothrow cycles and drops 90% of the charge and the autotrickler swishes in the remainder. All I do is pick up the cup, empty it in a funneled case and put it back on the scale.

When I first got my A&D, I was using a Chargemaster next to it, dispensing the charge about a half grain short. I would then transfer the charge to the cup on the A&D scale and put the first cup back in the CM to do the next load. Then I would turn back to the A&D and use a power trickler to finish up the load. The finished charge would go in the funneled case and the second cup would go back on the A&D scale. By that time, the charge from the CM would be waiting for me. And the cycle would start over again. Sometimes, I would forget to put the charge from the CM onto the A&D, I would dump it directly into the funneled case. Then I realized I had done that, and would have to empty the case. Or sometimes it would happen for a few charges. You get distracted, you mess up. When I first got the autotrickler, I used a measuring spoon to pick up a charge and dump it in the cup on the A&D. Every once in a while I would make a mess, or forget or put too much. Stuff happens when you do a lot of repetitions. That's where machines excel; me, not so much for this finicky stuff. And it's not getting better.

The Autothrow with the Autotrickler is a great combo. It's fast, you only have to put in the cup and take it out when it's done. You don't have to cycle anything or do anything else. I guess Adam's next invention with be an Autopour to empty the cup into the cases. ;)
 
I just adjusted my V3 Autothrow to dispense a charge just a couple grains from target. The Bluetooth app is great for that. You can cycle the Autothrow to your heart's content. Work gets in the way of serious handloading so it will be this evening when I adjust the Autotrickler and then get some loads done. The Autothrow V3 is very smooth.

Can’t speak to that but I can tell you what I do on my 650 that negates the need for an auto thrower

1. Prime and short throw charge ~2.0g under my target
2. Transfer powder to scale
3. Repeat 1 and 2 for second case while Auto Trickler is running
4. Load powder in first case
5. Seat bullet in first case
6. Transfer powder to scale from second case

Back to 1

Total cycle ~30 sec for a completed round

I think I am less than 20 sec a case with the Auto-throw/trickler, though if you had a manual thrower mounted on top of the Sartorius or A&D then you could manually throw and be about as fast as the Autothrow.

Can anyone state if the complete kit order from CE Products Inc, has the the bluetooth tech already installed in the scale as well as a trickle hole in the side air shield, eliminating the need for one to drill one? Thanks. I'm considering buying one but was curious.

yes. you can still do it the old way. And I just learned that if you set a target weight via bluetooth, you can use the old way to resume the target weight if stopped- no need to run and get device.
