6BRA versus 6 Dasher @ 600 yards

Jim that's great news now everyone will leave me alone! And that's what it's all about having a good time.
There will be a lot of great rifle to compete against, hope I can do my part.

Joe Salt
Joe if Mr. O'Hare gives you a hard time, let me know, I will be your "huckleberry" (man for the job).

I just had a crazy idea. Since there have been more than 6600 views of this thread, there must be great interest in this topic. I would buy a new barrel and chamber it in 6 Dasher if I could afford to do so. If there is a barrel maker (preferably cut rifled) who would care to donate a 6mm HV that would finish at 28 inches, I would have it chambered and test it along side of my 6 BRA. I will furnish the components, and write up my findings in the Daily Bulletin (subject to approval by Paul). The barrel on my BRA is still fresh. It is a Lederer that is a .237 bore and is 28 inches long. It is fitted to my BAT B/ Leonard stocked and it has 407 rounds through it. I told you that this was a crazy idea, but who knows, it may happen. Good shooting

James that test would only be valid on the same barrel, rechamber that barrel. Barrel quality is the same, I can not see one reason at all going back to a Dasher myself..... I would bet the powder lot is your problem, mine was after 7-8 different lots of H4895 and 3 barrels it shoots again...... jim

The Bra may be showing signs of life at our range. It shined at the monthly 300 yard match today. This is a score only match consisting of three, 10-shot targets on the 300 yard IBS target. Below is today's results. It was very hot today, but some managed to shoot through the mirage. I did not attend the match. Good shooting...James

Does anyone else feel a bit of OCD rage when Creedmoor is misspelled? It feels like a childish snub.

Personally I am inspired by James Mock.
The young fellas all shoot smaller than I do and I’m ok with that.
I truly find it amazing what they can accomplish.
I’m sometimes disappointed in my performance but never disappointed in the 6 mm BR cartridge.
I hope that when I’m 75 I can get out of bed and to a match period.

Best Regards and much Respect James

SPJ
Well, if you can't, Don't blame being 75. your just not moving enough. It's a bear getting started again.

I am going to make a pilgrimage to Pioneer LA this Saturday (7/20) for our monthly 600 yard match. In this I will shoot my BAT/Leonard chambered in 6 BRA and will be shooting 30.6 gr. H 4895/ Bart's 105 Gungnirs (+.006)/Federal 205 M. This load has shot well in practice and I hope that I can improve on my performance of late. The weather will be very hot/humid and the wind from 6 to 8 o'clock at ~5 mph. After all of the rain, we may have a major battle with mirage.

Well Here is some food for thought! The 6BRA Holds the smallest groups ever recorded at 1000 and 600 yards. Both 600 and 1000 yard Shooter of the Year were won with 6BRA last year.

Now it looks like the 6BRA will hold the 1000 yard record for the 10 target aggregate and the 6 target Aggregate!

Hummmm!!!!!! There could be something to this 6BRA thing.

I expect some of that success might be shared with those fancy stocks made by the legendary Alex Wheeler..... not to mention, how many of those rifles were built by Alex?
Lots of variables besides differences in the cartridges.

There’s always plenty of reasons for success. I believe both the Dave and Tom were shooting dashers by Alex. Same thing with type stocks! Both of those guys had a great deal of success with dashers. But now they are shooting 6BRAs! So did they switch because they wanted to handicap themselves??? I don’t think so. Really The main thing that changed IS the caliber.

The old 10 match group agg was Tom's. In his own words it was the best dasher barrel he'd ever had. It was crushed (not by a little) this year twice with multiple 6BRA barrels. Everyone knows my opinion, and I even shot a couple aggs myself with a dasher, so its not like Im not a dasher fan. But the 6BRA will out agg it, period.

Not arguing
I’ve had that conversation with Tom.
What I said and apparently failed to articulate is, some of the credit has got to go to the improvements in equipment design.
If the wheeler stock/rudder have nothing to do with it, Okay.
I’m not buying it, but Ok.

There's actually been 17 records mid and long range come just out of Alex's shop in the post BRA/2017 era. Plus yours, Mike's and whatever others I'm not aware of.
