James, sometimes we don't need to know why. Doing what works is good enough. If you can screw a dasher back on and take off running, why not? Once you have fought something enough you will never get along with it.
Alex, you are absolutely correct, but my Dasher barrel is tired (2500+ rounds) and I can't afford a new one. I have been considering cutting the tenon from my newest BRA barrel (375 rounds)James, sometimes we don't need to know why. Doing what works is good enough. The BRA has shot small enough for me to do better, but the consistency has just not been there during matches. I have looked at many things (scope, bullets, powder) but have not been able to pin down the cause of my problems. Probably, the problem is me. With that being said, I am going to shoot some at 600 yards this week to try to get prepared for the July match. Two great 600 yard shooters have told me to look at the powder and try to determine if that may be the cause of inconsistency. I have been shooting mostly H4895 and have tried three different lots. One lot is very slow and one is TOO fast. This week I am going to try my current lot from 30.0 gr. to 30.6 with three different bullets (all seated to +.006). I am stopping at 30.6 because of the HOT weather here in Louisiana. Also,View attachment 1112053 I am going to try some Re15 in a modified ladder test. If there are any worthwhile revelations, I will post the results. Good shooting.....James
LA Shooter, why don't you come north to shoot with us in July. You will enjoy the trip, plus you can show us north LA boys how to shoot. The range is just a couple miles west of Pioneer, LA. We shoot a 600 yard match every 3rd Saturday of the month (12 matches per year). I would love to see some of the great equipment that you have.
James I have been there and I have been beating my head against the wall also. the lot of H 4895 was ok but not not great so back up to try an other lot and like magic it started to shoot good really good. Went back and got 10 more lbs. went to Harry Jones with Barts 105 and Roy's 106 and loaded with the old lot and the new one won a relay and match and even set a record with the new lot. With H4895 the right lot is everything. Went back today and got all they had of that lot.... I gave my RL- 15 To a friend that shoots a Dasher...... jim
Great, looking forward to meeting you.James, - I do plan to make it up that way when my offshore work schedule will allow. - July & August I will be out to sea working. Fall time would afford me an opportunity.
Thank You James !!

I was not aware of any records being set this weekend.
Where were you on the last light gun match? I was cleaning when they told me not to touch the target and the refs. were signing it.... they still have it..... jim
Someone else told me almost exactly the same thing.James I have been there and I have been beating my head against the wall also. the lot of H 4895 was ok but not not great so back up to try an other lot and like magic it started to shoot good really good. I was going to say that JetJames
Based on the picture you posted this morning, have you had that scope checked on a scope checker? If not, I would strongly recommend you do that.
Good Shooting

Very big congratulations! So what is the pending record?
What caught my eye was the extended mounts.I was going to say that Jet![]()
That NF is not the scope that I normally use in competition. I was testing the fixed power 42X Nightforce and can't remember if I put it on a scope checker or not. However I did use it in one 300 yard match (which I won) and can say that it is a quality scope. For most competitions I use the 36X IOR Valdada ...which has been certified on the scope checker several times and it is rock solid. The Davidson bases are epoxied to the action and I did not want to remove them for a test of the NF, so I used the riser in order to use Weaver style rings.James

I seen a potential record target signed that day. As to my knowledge there are no records at this point and time. They also have a perfect score target of mine as a potential record. As well as a few other shooters targets that were better than mine and still have not got mine back. Good luck johara1 with your potential record but like the old saying goes, “ don’t count your chickens before they are hatched”James I have been there and I have been beating my head against the wall also. the lot of H 4895 was ok but not not great so back up to try an other lot and like magic it started to shoot good really good.
