Hello Everyone

I have a 10 GRS savage 6.5 Creedmoor and the Picatinny rail keeps loosing up. I have use blue loctite on it twice. What the best solution?

I wanted to ask before I used red loctite

I only use red on rails. I sometimes have epoxied them also. Just depends how you feel about putting epoxy on top of your action and sandwiching it between the rail. It definitely holds well.

Are you completely degreasing the screw holes before using the Loctite?

Could be the rail doesn't mate correctly with the action. Try some modeling clay between them to check fit. Mike

Sounds like your screws are not deep enough, maybe? There is a very small amount you can be off but blue on your screws should have you good to go.

Never had this problem, but could happen if the base itself is tweaked. Quick question, is the base bedded? If not, I would suggest checking to see how true the base is to the action. Tighten an end screw and tap the opposing end and listen for a clicking noise. If no clicking noise then repeat by putting the screw in the opposite end and tap the opposing side. Chances are that your base will need to be bedded. It is a rare thing that base and action meet up perfectly. After the base is bedded, clean the screws and holes with either lacquer thinner or acetone and torque to specs with just a touch of blue loctite (don't go crazy with the loctite, more is not better). Tweaked bases are the most likely cause for screws loosening or worse yet, breaking off.

In some cases, using red loctite could be the difference between screws loosening and staying in place. Blue almost always works. I use red when all else fails. Worse case scenario a little heat from a propane torch to just warm up the area on the rail where the screws fasten is all that's needed to loosen them. The Blue always back out with hand tools and no heat. Wouldn't advise using red on ring screws.
