Red Dot Torque

I’m trying to see what everybody else may be using regarding a red dot on a heavy magnum revolver specifically a 500 Smith & Wesson. I’ve tried to follow the torque recommendations for fastening it to the Picatinny rail. Following the manufacturer recommendations puts me between 15 and 25 pounds of torque depending on which brand. I have done that and even included blue Loctite each time within six or seven rounds the red dot site loosens any suggestions?

Depending on how invested you are into the sight/mount of the red dot, you could continue to go tighter.

Ive never tried a red dot on a large caliber revolver, but I have used several on 12 gauge shotguns and sadly it always breaks the red dot or the mount.

I gave up on the idea of mounting optics to 12 gauge shotguns.

I use Leupold Backcountry rings on a FA 44 Mag with a Leupold Freedom RDS attached to a Weaver rail. The torque for the ring/rail is 45 in lbs (ring/optic is 28). No issues.IMG_0501.jpeg

Thank you for the information. If this doesn’t work I was looking at a leupold scope and those mounts. I read about them recently Years ago I hunted with a Leupy on my Red Hawk in 44 mag never had an issue. That is considerable more torque than I currently use per the manufacturer. I am trying one more thing. I was also using my irons with a see through mount. Now I am mounted solid to the rail. I’m heading to range Tuesday to try it out.
