Okay, I have to fly out in the morning for the US Army Ranger Regiment Association reunion this week at Fort Bragg, NC. There were eleven full Infantry Divisions in RVN. Each one had a LRRP (Long Range Recon Patrol) company. Nixon found out that 3/4ths of the teams were Airborne Ranger trained, and switched the name to Airborne Ranger Companies. I was in the Company (75th Inf Abn)attached to the 23rd Inf, aka the Americal in Chu Lai, and then in 2nd Platoon (aka Company2/Company G) when half the company was reassigned to Danang. The Rangers date back to 1754 as George Rogers Ranging Companies during the F&I War.
