Okay, I have to fly out in the morning for the US Army Ranger Regiment Association reunion this week at Fort Bragg, NC. There were eleven full Infantry Divisions in RVN. Each one had a LRRP (Long Range Recon Patrol) company. Nixon found out that 3/4ths of the teams were Airborne Ranger trained, and switched the name to Airborne Ranger Companies. I was in the Company (75th Inf Abn)attached to the 23rd Inf, aka the Americal in Chu Lai, and then in 2nd Platoon (aka Company2/Company G) when half the company was reassigned to Danang. The Rangers date back to 1754 as George Rogers Ranging Companies during the F&I War.

I feel Extremely honored to even respond to a post of an army ranger. Thank you for your service and all you have done. Im not real sure if its appropriate for me to say enjoy your reunion?

Oh Next year I should be shooting in the Quigley. My Shilo Sharps should be coming in at the end of August. I suck but it should be fun.

The ones of us that have actually strapped guns to ourselves to defend others deserve the title... I do not say this lightly.... God bless all of our service members.....

We will! Good to know you. I spent a couple of years at Bragg starting in 1962 with the 82d Airborne Division (Scout Platoon Leader, Rifle Platoon Leader, Weapons Platoon Leader); and then to the Bragg Special Forces Schools, and from there on to an Operational A-Detachment with the 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) on Okinawa. My A-Detachment arrived in country RVN in October 1964. Yet, the 1st SFGA had had various detachments operating throughout RVN since early 1962. The majority of us were wearing the Ranger Tab and the Master Parachutist Badge. My detachment operated out of a CIDG camp vicinity Cheo Reo in the Central Highlands, employing about 1,000 Mountgnard tribesmen for combat operations against the Viet Cong. My detachment left RVN in 1965 returning to Okinawa, unscathed; just as the first American division, the 9th ID had come in from the states, along with a Marine division out of Okinawa. We were glad to see you all come. We had surely stirred up a hornets nest for you!
