Whats the most Fur Friendly 6mm bullet?

Ill be shooting a 6br soon enough and im looking for the most fur friendly bullet that will anchor a coyote out to 400yards. Thanks!

6 BR is kinda slow. Range estimation is going to be critical on longer shots to keep from unzipping them.

Range estimation and coyote hunting often do not go hand in hand.

You are going to have to get some bullet expansion or the coyote will run to the next county.

The 55g 6mm Nosler ballistic tip, has a better bc than it's 22 counter part. In my 27",12T I am shooting the 55s at 3900 into tiny bug hole groups, and this puts me on par with a 220 Swift shooting 55's.

Coyote and flat shooting go hand in hand, you can worry about a little sewing when you get them on the back of the truck.

We shot many hundreds of coyotes with the 60g Sierra HP, they do not make a mess.

The .243 Winchester has to many foot lbs. of energy to be fur friendly. Back in the early 80's I shot a .243 Win. and my hunting partner shot a 25-06.Rem. We put up 43 coyotes in 1983 and used more then a few rolls of dental floss. One thing my partner and I did agree on was my .243 was a better fur gun then his 25-06. This was determined by the size of the exit holes. We now shoot .204 Rugers.

I had great luck with the 87 V-max pushed right at 3000 fps. More critical is bullet placement and it needs to be dead nuts. Straight on, no exit. Broadside, if it exits, about 1". Which is easily repaired. Good luck and shoot Straight!! :D:D

Sierra 70 gr matchking what I use don’t tear them up to bad , also what Ackleyman said 55 gr Nosler bt and 60 gr Sierra hp. Also does fine job on them, if possible straight on shot’s in the chest no exit.

The hornady BTHP work well for me in 22-250 or 223 without much damage. Also the 40 grain varmint grenades out of a 22-250 are screaming fast and seem to dump most of thier energy fast on impact.

Interestingly 62gr VGs have left some of the largest exits on called coyotes out of my 6mm-204, 55gr NBT Lead Frees have worked well. Out of my 6x45 and 6mm-204 58gr Vmax have been my latest go-to bullet. I don't usually take a 6mm when hunting fur, saving them for off season predator hunting but with fur prices what they are Ive been playing with the 6's more.

About all the coyotes Ive shot were with a swift or a 22-250. Holdover wasnt a problem out to 300 yds. The holes you blew in the hides were. I dont know about a 6br. They aint worth anything anyway. Buzzard feed. Doug
