I’m glad that you got your guns back, but could you explain why the cops needed to hold your guns?

I’ve lost a few things in divorce and sold a few guns to raise cash back in the day. Never had to turn them in though.

1st chapter of a book called dirty divorce tricks. Call 911 and say you are afraid of your husband. Her word against his, no proof, but she gets a restraining order and he gets kicked out of the house. Expires in 90 days and with no proof, it goes away. No charges ever get filed. Good way to give more money to the lawyers and make sure you both walk away penniless.

There was a time, when simply acquiring almost any firearm at a good price was a pretty good investment. For guys like us it is also usually pretty fun. I've got at least a half dozen or more that I got that way.

These days, when you consider that sweeping gun control may deem many of our common guns instantly illegal, this might not be a very solid investment plan.

This "case" is starting to smell pretty bad if you ask me. It's going to be very interesting to see how it goes. We can all think, say, and believe whatever we want at this time, but it's all conjecture. jd

Any cop will tell you that informants are not to be fully trusted. Now we don't know if this is an irate neighbor or disgruntled customer, either of which could be vengeful for a number of reasons.

All law enforcement have informants who always have an ulterior motive to offer intelligence to the various agencies. A tip of this magnitude even if no charges are brought to court would benefit the informant, simply because of the notoriety of the case. For the ATF to get so much press from this story, they would turn a serial killer lose. This kind of splash is what justifies the enormous funds needed to keep them in business.

On the other hand, it is not unreasonable for an arrest such as this, to delay placing charges on the suspect. Every one of these guns will have to be run through the system to determine if there is a crime connected to them. That is going to take a very long time to accomplish as it is a complicated procedure. For the most part, the Federal Government does not keep a record of long gun sales. Most states don't either. Mostly, FFl's are the record keepers for long guns. Private sales are another matter.

How long before charges are brought will depend on how many man hours the ATF wants to devote to the process.

It’s over when you run out of money!

There was a guy in California who moved his business out of there to save in state tax. California said he owed them 50 million in back taxes. He called them on it, and it cost him 48 million in a 10 year lawsuit. He said he was willing to spend more just on the principle of the matter. He didn’t want California to get his money, and he wasn’t going to stop until he won.

He “won” like 400 million from the lawsuit but there is a limitation on the amount of money California can give you so he only actually saw $50k lol.

Update in LA Times. Too much pop up Spam to link, trust me. The arrested individual posted $50K bond and was released. The property is linked to the Gettys of wealth and fame name. Weird.
