Had someone ask me how far I was in or off the lands with 105 Hybrids. I asked them how many thousandths in 5". LOLThat much freebore, should rename it 6 Dasher Weatherby
For some reason Impact seems to be the hot one right now. Check out the action recommendations for the new MDT metal BR mags on the MDT website. Looks like they don't work well with any three-lug bolt.Thank you all for your advice! You have swayed me to the side of the 6mm br. I like the omg barrel life, precision, economical reloading, and it looks like there are good mags now available.
Any advise on an action? I was thinking of having Alamo Precision Rifles build the rifle for me. Trying to keep things close to 3k or less all up less the scope.
My Dasher barrel that I shot the small group with at the 2016 IBS 1,000 yard nationals had under 1,500. When I got home after that match I cleaned and inspected with a bore scope. The first 5" of rifling past the throat were gone and it had fire-cracking for 2" past that. I have others that show moderate throat erosion and cracking after 400 rounds. My 6 Creedmoor barrel has well over 2,000 rounds of 3,100 FPS 105's and is in no worse shape that the 400 round Dasher barrels. I didn't make a SWAG when I said what I said. It was based on MY EXPERIENCE. But I am guessing you are the smartest poster on the internet?
It has crossed my mind that it could have been a fluke barrel. They are both from the same manufacturer.I wouldn't say that but running them that hot does cook them but I also found that cleaning has a lot to do with it. For many years I cleaned with warthog 1134 and I could totally clean two guns in 15 min. and barrel life was good now it is gone and I had to go with over the counter cleaners. I can see life of the barrel shortened by wearing them out with a cleaning rod.. ..
It does seem strange that if both the same make of barrel going the same speed and the same bullet one would wear out faster that much faster...... jim
Which +2 Extensions are you using? So far magpul mags have run very well even with +2 extensions.

I clean regularly. each one has been cleaned after every 50 rounds or less. I have wondered also about powder choice for the 6 Creedmoor. RL16 lays down an extra thick sooty "coating" in the barrel. Maybe that helps with erosion?
I am using the ones from C&H Precision Weapons.Which +2 Extensions are you using?
When I got the Dasher to 3100 it was with Alliant 2000MR. If unfamiliar with it, the shape is more like ball instead of extuded and burn rate is approximately H4350.To be running a Dasher at 3100 it had to be Varget in it, only thing that lays down anything blacker is coal.... lol.... jim

Like I mentioned earlier in my post, I have flawless feeding with magpul mags (cheap) in an MPA chassis with a bighorn tl3. My rifle is shooting under .25 moa at 100yds with a bipod and rear bag. With the tl3 I can use savage prefits or a conventional shouldered barrel. Depending on what stock, trigger, optic and a prefit or conventional barrel chambered by a gunsmith will determine your final price!
Don’t let anyone tell you using a savage barrel nut is less accurate either! Smooth feeding, fast bolt handling and getting a stable shooting position are more important things to worry about. I think 1/2moa to a max of 3/4 moa is sufficient because you will lose more points due to poor positioning and time constraints.

Right now I run my 27.5" 6BRA at 2910 fps with a 105 hybrid, 30.4 of H4895. Shoots in the 0.2's.
