Powder Price

I started catalog shopping at Cabela's back in the mail order / telephone order days, now I'm telling my age, I used them almost exclusively for years. Everything was reasonably priced, usually in stock, and the Cabela's branded clothing was always superior to the Bass Pro line, in my opinion. Things at Cabela's have gone down hill greatly, especially after the buyout, I think they will end up like so many other companies that get purchased by the competition, they will be relegated to an inferior position or completely phased out.

In north Idaho the Cabela's store (Post Falls) is like a ghost town. It opened in Nov 2007 and was always crowded. The reloading equipment section has dwindled down to hardly nothing. The reason the powder shelves are full is that their prices are so high that no one buys. Even the employee discount price for powder is higher than the regular price at Black Sheep Sporting Goods (Coeur d'Alene, ID), which is the best place for reloading supplies. They always have plenty of powder in stock.

The Springfield Oregon Store last Month had Varget 8 lbs. $238.99 .
I found No target Bullets and Hunting ????

Great Store for Window Shopping .
Stop and get some fudge the next time.
Then 5 guys for a burger

It could be that BPS bought the Cabelas chain, just
to milk all the money out then shut them down. It
wouldnt be the first time that something like this
has happen to rid yourself of competition. LDS

So, in Dallas, sportsman Warehouse shutdown and we have two Cabela's and a bass pro. But, they are building a scheel's near my house... 331,000 sq ft. But not open till next year :(

I wish our Walmart carried reloading supplies.
Agree Cabelas is going down hill.

About 7 yrs ago, right before we hit the great Varget drought, I had just bought an 8 lb jug from Powder Valley. I was walking thought the local WalMart in Oak Ridge and there in a middle of the isle display was a whole pile of 1lb Varget bottles, and I walked on by. Many times over the next couple of yrs I wished I'd filled a cart while it was there.

We were in Billings Mt. over the weekend. Stopped at Cabelas. I checked prices on a few reloading items. My wife found a north face jacket she really wanted. We were there for about 30 minutes and not one employee asked us if we needed help. I told my wife we would drive across town and check out Scheels. We were there about the same amount of time and at least 7 people asked if they could help us with anything. The reloading items I checked were a minimum of 10% cheaper than Cabelas. My wife found the same coat and we bought it at Scheels. I got primers.
Huge difference between the 2, Scheels employees are also store shareholders from what I understand.

I was in BPS yesterday killing time while the rains subsided. Varget $39.99/#. Really!?!? I’ve never before and never will buy from them! Extravagant prices!
