tumbler for dry media?

What type tumbler for dry media like walnut shells or corn cob? can a rotary style be used or only a vibratory style?

Thanks

Rotary works better than the vibrator. Been told that with the vibrator, stuff settles to the bottom. (?) I use a Thumbler's Tumbler, the BIG one, wet or dry. Wouldn't use anything else.;)

I have both. with walnut media the vibratory is a little faster. Nothing settles to the bottom of a vibratory.
You can see in this video at about :45

Ive had the big huge dillon for 25yrs or so. While i havent used it but maybe 2-3 times since ive seen how ss pins actually clean brass it still works well. No telling how many hours it has on it. Used to run 24/7 when i shot pistols.

Seond Thumlers Tumbler. I have two cans...one for wet with SS media and the other with walnut treated with Arsenal polish for simple dry cleaning.

Does anyone wet tumble without the pins? My brass will be used for benchrest or f class so it doesn't get very dirty as it never hits the ground. im looking for a way to do a clean after salt bath annealing or neck turning.

Also will a person have problems with dinged necks if only tumbling 50 to 100 pieces at a time?

Thanks.

Berry's here! Been happy with it. Media is Zilla Lizard cage walnut mix from the pet store. Just got a buddy to switch and he is super happy! Cheap and lasts forever.

Pro-Tip: Add a little mineral spirits and used dryer sheets to help with dust. Nu-Finish car polish if you want some shine...

I run a big rotary with dry media. Works well, and if you play with the ratios, its not much different than a vibrator.

I can run wet or dry.. although Ive stopped wet tumbling.

Whats the specs on that motor? Ive got an old 1/3hp 1750rpm motor off a old wood furnace blower.
It might work for something like that.

I also shoot benchrest, salt bath anneal. Then I clean brass in ultrasonic cleaner for 15 minutes. Just a little bit of Dawn dish cleaner followed by a clear water rinse. Works well for me.
