Shooting factory 6BR in a 6 BRA

I have a box of Lapua 6BR ammo.

Is it safe to fire in no a turn neck 6BRA chamber? The rounds could only be considered fire forming rounds of course.

Provided your chamber has ample amount of neck clearance you should be okay.
Measure a few loaded rounds and be sure they are under the size of the neck in your rifles chamber. 0.003 or more would be fine.

As LA50shooter said, as long as you have enough neck clearance between the Factory loaded case and your chamber you should be fine. I usually like my bullets to be at least .010 into the rifeling when FF to keep the base of the case against the bolt face, however you may not be able to achieve that with a factory loaded round.

I’ll double check the necks but I recall seeing .002 to .0025 clearance.

I guess the question is whether I should set up a dummy and then pull and reseat bullets to assure some jam and light neck tension.

Or just fire a few and continue as long as there are no ftfs.

I would rather ask a dumb question than do a dumb thing.

If you have a collet bullet puller I would just pull them part way out and then reseat so there touching about + .010 or so. As long as you don't plan on shooting them in a match and your not concerned with your group size, just let them fly, then reload them with the good stuff. :)

A br imp. is set up to have a slight amount of resistance at the shoulder, neck junction and there is no need to worry about the bullet into the lands. Neck clearance is an other issue, you will need a no turn neck on the improved..... jim
