Savage fclass 22 build

I hate to be the bearer of bad news here, but a lot of guys before you have spent a lot more than that to try to make the Mark II REALLY shoot, and all I've known have abandoned it.

That being said, you're pretty optimistic to get it to clean the 50m Metrics anyway...those are NOT easy targets with any rimfire anywhere.

After shooting one match of my fclass making up last month and half way through this months the trigger will not cock any longer.

Smith hasnt answered my text yet that was around noon today.

Im getting a anschutz but he still needs to make this right. 1416 with 23" barrel what do you recommend as starting ammos, please dont say tenex i dont think i can afford that stuff 8 or 9 dollars a 50 should be gods plenty.

Don't rush off in the Anschutz direction either. The 1416 definitely isn't the best absolute choice for an f-class gun and may or may not be the best choice per dollar.

What are you planning for an f-open stock for the 1416?

The 1416 is advertised as heavy barrel but I'm fairly sure its not AS heavy as the 64mpr or 1903

The best choice for the money might be a 64 action bench rest rifle if you can find one

eta - does your trigger still have the standard adjustment mechanism?
A 1/4 turn heavier can make a huge difference in reliability.

I am waiting on kelbly to call or email the price on a 1416 23" heavy barrel bedded in their 1M stock. Price should be about 1700. So yes it is a expensive anschutz but it is in exactly the stock i want for fclass and bedded. I can buy a new one for 1100 but then i have to buy a stock so it comes out the same. As far as i can find anschutz doesnt sell a 3" forearm rifle.

That said im not dead set on the kelbly but i know i will get what will work. I do know i want 3" forearm and a good to go no need to change this or that rifle.

I am selling my 3 gun comp stuff to fund it seeing as how i have never used a bit of it. S&W MP sport 2 with eotech 512.A65, magpul fde furniture, and 4 mags, 300 rounds down tube. Gisan MC312S1, taran tactical springs and lifter gate, 10 round tube, cut for easier 2 up loading, and redneck bolt release tab, less than 200 rounds down tube. Canik tp9sf with 4 mags and holster, about 500 rounds through it. Plus 2 up shell caddy, comp belt, and mag holders.

Here's a link to an Anschutz 64 in a BR stock. They also make 1913 54's in a BR stock at twice the price

That's not an expensive Anschutz, it is an expensive Anschutz 64. I'm assuming you're not in the much more expensive 54 market.

The 1416 based benchrest rifle wade posted is under 7 pounds. Even though a 1416 is nominally a 'heavy' barrel the match target heavy barrels in the 1903 and 64mpr are heavier - more like 9 pound rifles, they are 3" longer but I believe they're larger diameter too. For some benchrest classes the lighter 1416 may be necessary but for f-class the greater weight is better. I'm not sure how possible it is but I think you'd be better off with the full target 64 barreled action in the kelbly than the 1416 and stay in the same general price range. It's also plus for an f-class rifle if you can get a pure single shot action rather than a mag. And some 1416s have heavy single stage hunting triggers, make sure yours doesn't.

I don't mean to push you, just throwing out things I thought about before I gave up and spent the money for an out-of-the-box f-open ready 54 action benchrest stocked rifle.

The Accutrigger spring needs tightened up.

The Anschutz 64's do not necessarily shoot that much better than all the other thin-walled "budget-ish" receivers. It's just the triggers are so much better for shootABILITY.

If it were between an Annie 64, and a premium-barreled CZ, my money is on the CZ for sheer accuracy.

54's...well, not so much. :)

I have at least one problem with this rifle. The stock. It may have but i dont think its a 3" forend not a end all i can switch rest bags, but its not a parallel rear but stock. I dont want the rear bag riding portion angled. May or may not hurt anything but it isnt what i shoot 1k yards with and i do want the two mostly similar.

Plenty of good shooting used Anschutz out there. Here was mine before I provided a loving home. :D
It came with a prone stock which is almost perfect for SB F Class.

Purchased for $900

What about that. Yes i would have to swap out the stock but i could sell the factory iron sights and recoupe some funds.

That's either a fantastic deal on just what you want or there's something wrong with it.

edit - cosmetics are poor enough, maybe it is a great deal for a shooter
3 day return
Buy the rifle, an accessory-rail mounted bag rider and a box of tenex.
Be ready to shoot it the day it shows up.
If it doesn't beat the hell out of the 10 ring clean it well and send it back.

Ad says it shows some pitting, per phone call they say bore is perfect though. Still at 1600 on it after changing the stock.

Is a 40x on the same level as anschutz as far as accuracy?
