role of your less accurate rifles?

I have rifles that I've upgraded past and an f-class AR that is not as accurate as a bolt I moved on to.

What do you do?

Sell everything but the best?

Practice with the #2?

Would you ever shoot a match with a gun when you could score better with another?

I like to practice with the the rifles/loads I don't consider to be my absolute best, thus saving the barrels and components for my best rifles for competition. As long as the difference in accuracy/precision isn't HUGE, they should work just fine for practice.

I sell it, I’m getting to old to not be happy with my gun;)

AMEN!!!!! If there is two things about rifles I have finally learned...one is to NEVER sell the one that shoots like I really want it to and the other is to get rid of the schitt as fast as possible and do not waste any more time on it. Life is too short to spend begging a pos to shoot right.

There are many situations where less inherent accuracy is needed:
1. Training others in fundamentals
2. Hunting
3. Windy days
4. Practicing other shooting positions

Other situations:
A. Events with different rules (factory only, for example)
B. Applications with different weight/accuracy trade offs
C. Applications where a magazine/repeater is preferred

I also like to keep an F-Open and an F-TR rifle available. There are some friends and family I prefer not to compete against, so if they are shooting in one discipline, I'll prefer to shoot in the other one.

although there are a number of firearms that I've let slip away to my later chagrin, I sell firearms that are no longer part of a discipline I participate in and use the proceeds to upgrade equipment or fund new shooting directions. There are a few firearms in my safe that I don't shoot anymore but have deep sentimental attachment that will likely be the last to go...and even then hopefully to a family member who has gained a similar attachment.

Personally I enjoy tuning a rifle in. You’ll get rifles that shoot everything well and you’ll get some that dont. However when you get a savage edge to shoot it’s pretty satisfying.

I'm not a competitor, and frankly I've got some rifles that are very sweet to shoot in non-competitive situations. I'd never simply sell them. I'll probably give them away someday if I spot the right home.

Different weapons are good for different ranges, and sometimes a sling-shot is just perfect for the shooting at hand. jd

Only think I could really complain about is my ruger 10/22's, and a marlin 17hmr stainless thumbhole. Only factory guns I got the 22s shoot like you would expect. The 17 dont bughole but holds an inch at 100. They aint what I like but aint found something to replace the 17

This thread here sure has convinced me not to buy a used gun anymore.

Used guns aren't a problem. Used guns expecting them ro be worth any more than the action? That's still not a problem, but it is more than likely delusional.

Everything I bought is purpose-driven. One is for indoor shock and awe. Others for more discreet work while up close. Some mid range when I don't know what I'll be facing. And still others for distance. They all have varying degrees of accuracy. When they no longer suit the need, the go.

I do have 3 lever guns that I inherited. They are old safe queens that hardly get to see the light of day. They won't go anywhere. They have become family heirlooms and have been put in our family estate trust.
