Barrel straight in stock

I just put a Bergara 1:10 twist in 22-250. And when i was looking down it the barrel is touching the right side of the stock. I removed it and replaced it again and it still is touching. I looked at the action to see if it was crooked and it is fine. The previous barrel i think was straigh, but cannot remember.

What are some tricks to fixing this? Or other ways to check to see what is crooked?

Proper bedding will fix it unless the stock itself is warped

I had a similar situation years ago with a rem700. Switched it back and forth using several stocks, always closer to one side. My gunsmith told me later that the barrel was screwed on a bit off, crooked. The rifle shot great.

Looks to me like the barrel channel could stand to be opened up a little? Do that before you bed the action. AND, shim that barrel "centered" in the channel as you bed.

Dukeduke, inwas wondering about that. It is a remage barrel. But the threads didnt seam that loose.

Loose threads would actually help . If your receiver face and recoil lug are true

I understand, loose threads would HELP if the receiver threads were canted and if your receiver face was true . The loose threads

I am going to remove the barrel again and see how loose the threads are. Then that will give me an idea if the barrel is crooked. I will keep u posted.
