6br ,1-8 T ,with 75gr Hornady vmax

I’m dropping off an action this week for a 6 BRA Varmint Rifle build. I’m planning to use a 1:12 twist for 70 grain and under bullets.

Not a 6BR but I shoot the 75gr Vmax in my 6-284 w/12tw barrel and they shoot extremely well. I've shot a lot of coyotes with that bullet in my 6-284 and to say they are NOT fur friendly is an understatement.

You might consider 10 twist then you would be able to shoot the 87 v-max and under...and still have plenty of speed.
Just a thought. :)

87 VMax and Sierra 85 HPBT are two of my favorite bullets. I push both of them really hard out of 243 Win with excellent results. I can’t imagine that a smaller case will give me the oomph that I’m looking for with those bullets.

I used them in my 6BR but nothing to rave about. You have some severe over spinning so accuracy will be OK. It depends what you expect from your rifle. Why not go with an 87g VMax?

One day I purchased 500 75grn V max and 500 87grn. Worked up loads for both and at the range they both looked good. In the field it was instantly noticeable the 87 was vastly superior to the 75 in all respects at any distance from the muzzle to extended range.. Don't be fooled by FPS

I herd of that round . With a 75 gr v max what’s the FPS on that and is that round considered a barrel burner ?

Personally Ive found the 70 hr Nosler ballistic tip bullet to outshine the 75 v-max in the 6 dasher varmint barrels that I've worked with.
70g Sierra Blitz kings out performs the BT and the V max, like shooting a berger bullet in terms of accuracy and more explosive than either of them!!!

For comparison, the 6-284 has quite a bit more case capacity than does the 6BR so it's going to, burn more powder and shoot a few hundred FPS faster, which naturally will make it a little harder on barrels. I'm shooting a fairly mild load in my 6-284 with 75gr Vmax and H4350, but they're still leaving the end of my 26in. Lilja barrel at 3600fps.

The 6-284 is a very, very, easy cartridge to make and load for. I use Lapua 6.5-284 brass and it's a one pass through the die and load. Mine is built on a SA Rem 700.6-284 (2).jpg

The 87g VMax performs quite well in both my 6BR and my 6X47L. Groups hover around the 2 inch mark at 600 yards. Not bad for a varmint bullet. Bullet seems to shoot best at touch or jam. Both guns are 8 twist.

Thank you is varget a good choice?

I could not get the 87 Vmax to shoot well in my 6BR, Krieger 1:8 28" barrel. I switched to the Berger 88gr Varmint, and it shoots very well.
