Digital ball micromiter

Any recommendations for a decent digital ball micromiter and stand ??

ebay is your friend. Cry once, and get the batteries off of ebay, also. Stands are cheap, $30 or so, or use a mini vise with a swivel head that is good for other things, use plastic, rubber, or leather jaws. The Pan a vise is what I use, good for a lot of uses, buy used off of ebay.

If you drop that digital tube mic, the first thing to go is the auto shut off. If you buy used, ask the seller to make sure that the auto shut off works because a lot of them are discontinued models and repairs may not be possible.

Mine is also a Mitutoyo without a stand. Look at the Mitutoyo wall thickness mic with 60 degree modification from K&M Precision Shooting Products.

While not digital, that mic is easy for me to read compared to a couple others I've had. That micrometer is good stuff.

Also not a digital but looks like a nice setup with stand and it'll go all the way down to .17 cal which some of the others don't.

With the tapered anvil(?) it let's you measure even cases with very short necks. I also have the Igaging AckleymanII mentions and I feel it keeps right up there with my Mitutoyo.

I have a starret that came from Sinlair, I honestly don't think you'll find something that will do a better job but I DON"T like the price! Guess you get what you pay for and I've had that several years so maybe it'll be worth what I gave for it when I kick off.

Got one of these (assumes I can find it) but no longer use it. It has a 5 star rating at Brownells but it is no longer available. USPS flat rate shipping would be about $10....make me an offer. Super low cost neck measuring tool.

You may want to rethink that gizzie...
The discriminates are half thou (.0005) but ACCURACY stated is .0016 . . . orrrr, 3X the discriminate.
Will it give steady consistent comparative measurements? Or will it vary a few tenths or a thou now and again or every second, or third or?? neck?
Not trying to kill a sale Ben, but hate for a fellow shooter think he has a reliable tool when the mfr's description is plain.

I am only going to make one point. I never had a problem with the "cheap" General micrometer. However, I would shy away from cheap calipers. They are not necessarily accurate for the measurements we are seeking in case prep. I would have to believe the same applies for micrometers. Go for the more expensive instrument to avoid confusion and overall mental anguish and self doubt.
