6mm Cr.eedmore

How does the 6mm Creedmore case capacity compare to the 6 xc? The xc was a little light for the 110-115 gr bullets but that is where the 243 SLR shines.
Is all the interest in the Creedmore just that commercial ammo is being made for it?

I'm not sure what discipline you are referring to, but I would beg to differ that the 6XC is a little light for 115 grain bullets. David Tubb shot a "clean" (800 out of 800) and won the Canadian Cup with his 6XC and 115 DTACs at the Long Range Nationals last year. A lot of people (including me) are running the 115 DTACs between 3000-3100 fps in 30-32" barrels. Could you let us know more about what you are trying to accomplish, or are you simply trying to understand why the 6mm CreedMOOR is apparently more popular than 6XC?

That being said, when you look at a 6XC and a Creedmoor case next to each other, they look VERY similar in size/capacity.

The 6CM has a water volume of 50 grains and the 6XC was a water volume of 48 grains.

The interest is due to the fact that it is the little brother of what has been the biggest caliber splash in many years, the 6.5mm Creed. That and the fact that LR shooters and PRS shooters have kinda jumped on it since high-quality small primer brass hit the market.

I have a buddy shooting 6CM and I'm shooting 6XC. I"m shooting 115s and he's shooting 105s...But he has 200fps+ muzzle velocity advantage on me. I'm thinking of building one. Maybe I'm just not putting enough powder in mine but I'm shooting 2950 fps at 39.7 gn of 4350. Another buddy shooting 6xc went after a faster node and 400 rounds later he is back at 39.7 with me. So the 2 grains of water may be attractive to me. I'm getting a new stock back later this month and will either bed my 6xc into it or build a new rifle and 6CM is the leading candidate.

I'm also considering trying 6SLR again but to me the key to selecting what to build is what brass to use. I wasn't happy with my brass options for the SLR the first time. That said, it shot very well for 200 rounds, then I overheated it in a 1000 yard match with an idiot in the pits and it was never the same. I may try it with Lapua brass, even though it is usually recommended using a "cheap" brass like Rem or Win that reforms easier into the SLR shape.

If I do build a 6CM, I plan to make it .010" long and rename it. You'll hear me talking about the 6JLS (my initials).

Morepheus,
I have been down the 115 DTAC / 6XC rabbit hole. Can u shoot that bullet over 3000 fps, yes u can. With every brand of brass I could find, at those higher velocities, brass lasted about four firings. Primer pockets opened up n I discarded the brass.
WhatDavid Tubb can do is not a concern to me. I haveshooting buddies who shoot the DTACs in their 243 based cases well beyond 3250 fps n use their brass one time. I am not in that group.
The 243 SLR comfortably does what the 6XC does when pushed to high pressures. Brass lasts a very long time and is easy to form.
My question was if the NEW 6 mm Creedmore is just a commercial version ( case capacity wise) of the 6XC? If they are very close in internal capacity then the advantage is commercial ammo is loaded for The Creedmore.

It would seem that like the 6 mm BRA , the Creedmore is the new kid on the block and everyone rushes to have one chambered up. I get it!

Carlsbad,

I like the SLR a lot as u can easily shoot the 105 to 115 gr bullets fast enough that I believe the only cartridges u give a ballistic advantage to are the 7 mms. The other big plus is low recoil. That. Is an issue for us sling shooters.

This year I took the SLR bbl off my rifle and am going to shoot the 6.5x284. Am anxious to see if there is any advantage there. Just going to convince myself that the larger cartridge really doesnt have any real world advantage. It will be fun!

Bob3700 - In my experience, the new Peterson SRP 6XC brass (available from Tubb) allows for hotter loads without showing pressure signs than the Norma ever did. If you haven't tried it yet, you might consider doing so, but it sounds like you've already made up your mind.

I also have a 6SLR (using neck-turned Lapua brass since Rem and Win were both disappointing) and shot the 115 DTACs, but have since switched back to the 6XC with Peterson brass since it performed so much better for me than the Norma 6XC ever did and performs close to the 6 SLR in an easier to manage configuration (for me at least - no neck turning or fire forming).

I am only seeking to provide my personal experience as another data point for you to consider, especially with regard to the latest version of the Peterson SRP brass which has only recently become available.

Morpheus,

You are correct that I onlly used thr Tubb and Norma brass in the XC. It was ok with 107 etc. but 115s just wore out primer pockets. Tougher brass is ok but u are still running pressures up to accomplish what the larger case does without stressing cases.
In my SLR I use Win n Rem brass as my chamber is a no turn neck with those brands and I already have success with em.

Three of my shooting team shoot the XC and have great success. They all shoot the 105-107 gr bullets. I would not diminish it in any way.

For no more than 600 yd shooting I think u cant go wrong with a BR case.

No one ever did comment on the case capacities of the new Creedmore vs the XC.

The Creedmoor has slightly more capacity than the XC. I don’t remember exactly how much.
