Shot Marker (Review)

Lastly, regarding debating the accuracy. In our opinion there is no longer a debate! When you take the points oob made and compare to the human error element with wrinkled pasted targets and non-linier warped cardboard (what we shot on at Raton this year in the Nationals after the first day of LR was rained out after the first match). The shotmarker target accuracy is as good or inside the above described. The debate is now reduced to those that have bought, spent time understanding and helping Adam improve with upgrades......and those that have not, with little to no experience and knowledge of the system. They can continue to fuss and complain out of ignorance but for me and the guys I shoot with, we have seen and experienced the evolution of electronic targets and have moved on. It's actually a much better shooting time and experience!! The camaraderie that will be missed in the pits is a myth! There is 10 times over more camaraderie behind the line for those not shooting or scoring. We've actually had to move back a bit further behind the line as to not disturb the shooters with all our laughter and BS stories:)

+100 Well Stated !

We bought 2 firing points worth ( including 2 tablets per firing point from Adam ) early last year. Then bought 4 more later in the year and will be buying 4 more early this year.

As previously stated by many the Rapids fix is a hugely welcome advancement and they were previously working perfectly for individual practice and prone matches out to 600 yards. Also Agree that Adam't product and more importantly "Customer Service" has been Top Shelf !

You don't have any sign-making companies in your area?

Got some and finally got my target frame prepared for delivery of the Shotmarker itself. I just used 2x4 or the frame and bulk of the stand (legs are 2x6). Seems sturdy enough. I guess time will tell.

(I learned that I am crap at carpentry.)

Ditto here. "I cut that board three times and it is STILL too short!":mad::mad:

Got my Shotmarker yesterday. Does the sensor hub need to be up high? See pics in post 104. I was originally thinking I would place it down low on the side of the base "legs" where it is less likely to get shot. But now I am wondering if it needs to be up high at the top of the frame.

If you have 'line of sight' from the access hub to the antenna of the sensor hub you will be fine. The extension cable is to allow placing the sensor hub out of harms way while keeping the less costly antenna 'in view' of the access point.

I will most likely be required to place my target stand behind a wooden line - think a stretch of over-sized railway sleepers lying on the ground. It would offer more protection for the hub but it would likely obscure line of sight. Not sure if it would block the low frequency radio signal.

Put the hub behind the railway tie (perfect) and use the supplied antenna extension mounted higher on the target.

One is included in the pack now. The manual says to use it only if necessary which gave me pause for thought.

I just use the standard stubby antennae's and mount the sensor hubs about a foot below the berm where they can't get shot.
Works great out to my max range of 600 yards.

The frames all measure within .4 mm of each other in all dimensions, most (12 of 17) are exactly the same to the 1/10 of a mm. [Quote)]

That is some extremely fine machine work and joining to have 12 frames that large be square within .004 and the remaining within .0154". A very large mic or CMM?

Don't get me wrong, it seems like you guys are near the Gold Standard for construction, methodology and critical, logical thinking.

Just got my shot Marker and build the frame to hang on the existing carriers, hang and clamp the bottom cross member and shoot.
If shooting a custom F class or FTR rifle this size target is fine 24'x36' at 600 yds.. I let a guy try it out with his M1a and he just missed the wires at the bottom wood brace by 1/8". The Shot Marker worked perfectly, calibrated it 3/16" to the left, height was right on and we're GTG.
Love the Shot Marker
Rob

Our club recently purchased 8 of the ShotMarker systems.
We have shot (2) 500 yard High Power matches using them and they have worked flawlessly.
All of the competitors seem to really like them and we have had zero complaints or issues.

I mounted mine at the top of the frame, fully expecting a stray bullet to eventually find its way to the hub. I mounted the hub behind a small VR500 gong in order to protect it, should this happen.
