Anyone have experience w/Rem 700 Sendero’s built by custom shop

Hey, that helps because I forgot bottom metal. Anyway, I hope the OP gets the point that building a “true custom” isn’t out of reach. I’m more of a do it yourselfer. I have to hire a smith to do the chambering (specific to my wants) but that’s easy. You just send off the action, order the barrel and have it sent direct to him then wait a bit. When that’s done, it’s a simple matter to assemble the parts. A prefit only requires a few more tools. You also need an inch pound torque wrench and some bedding compound. Bedding a gun is only scary the first time. An adequate job is easy if a guy has a few brain cells working.
Just saying.:)

Hi, I’m the OP. I communicated with one on the best gunsmiths out there. He sent me some info to look at and will call back. It will just be a matter of finding out if I can afford. If I can afford i’m absolutely sure I will have a rifle levels above any i’ve Owned before. Excited to find out if I can afford it. I think i’m Going to find it doesn’t cost much more to go with the best that already has a well earned recognized reputation.

Before that I had tried calling the Remington Custon shop & just the phone call is a cluster mess. When I did get through all the options and get connected my call got dropped. You can tell from calling them they are trying to find an identity. They don’t know who they are yet between financial crisis, mergers, & buy outs.

I was in the same boat as you. I called GA and bought the non typical and love it. Watch out for extras it added up. The time line was 6 months and only 1000.00 to start the build. It gave me time to sell a rifle or 2 to get the test of the money. It was close to the 6 months and I was having a hunt come up soon so I called and they said don’t worry about it, holy crap it came when they said unlike many others. Others aren’t figuring the time line for all the parts and buying a action sending the action to the smith and the total install of the rifle.
Good luck
Jason

Go with one good custom. You won’t regret it. If money is tight, wait until you’ve saved some more. If you don’t and go half way, you’ll always wonder “what could have been better”. Remember, I’m not saying you have to send a ton of money to a smith and wait a year to get it. You can “do it yourself” and save a bunch of time and money!;)
Custom actions are a fair investment, too. They have a good resale value if you need to sell them. A Bat B is a Bat B. A “trued Remington” is an unknown. The question is always “Who did the work and how good are they?”
I send my action and barrel off to Bob Green and usually have it back in a month or two. If I have my parts ready, I’ll have the gun together and shooting in a couple days.
