Does anyone no if Denny is still making these . I have had no luck getting ahold of him . Thanks Pat

I believe so, but response has been a little spotty.
If you’re looking for 22 rods,Killoughs shooting sports stocks them.

I love ivy rods and theyre my first choice by a long shot but if youre looking for a substitute neil jones makes a fine set of rods- threaded and with jag made on them.

Dusty main reason I ask is I use proshot for the reason they have slender handles . I like Dewey rods but there handles tend to scrach, mare my stocks , to big
I don’t have that problem with proshot . But always looking for better products.

if you like a pro shot handle youll love an ivy or neil jones handle. theyre about the same size except made from black uhmw type Delrin stuff and have bearings and stay on the rod

Since so many folks here machine their own barrels and other stuff, has anyone machined down the handles on their cleaning rods? How small a diameter can be achieved without hitting the bearing(s)?

According to which rod. The pro shot has a dimple in the rod with a roll pin drove thru into that cutout- like a remington ejector so theres no bearings there. I guess you could go .025 over rod dia if you wanted. Handle is already too small. Neil jones and ivy has about 3/4” dia handles- no need to turn them down. Bore tech has a makeshift roller bearing with loose balls thats probably 1/2”dia so it could go smaller

I ground down the raised ribs on my dewey
Chamber cleaner. No pockets in them.
Tempted to get a cleaning rod & do the same.

The Ivy rods don't have actual ball bearings. They have a collar pinned to the rod and loose .125 bearing balls captured between the collar and a washer. The set screw in the end of the handle controls the end play on the balls. It works quite well and they are IMO the best rods on the market.

He is a buddy, I just sent him a text with this on it.

I know he moved houses and some other stuff and has been running a bit crazy

Thanks, I put in an email request for another rod a few months back, a couple of calls and no response. I was concerned that life got in the way and hoping nothing serious. Denny certainly makes the best rods I have ever used and worth the $ and wait.

I ordered one from him the first of last year after numerous emails back and forth and a final one from me asking to cancel my order I finally got it 5 months later..... love his rods but they have some production and communication issues going on.

The first couple of rods I ordered were a snap. Email communication, funds sent, rods in about 4-6 weeks as planned....no problem. That is why I was concerned that there were possibly difficulties he was encountering. Again, hope all is well.
