"TEACHERS" are "Furious", and I don't blame them, For the record, I believe were 48th or 49th on the list of the lowest paid teachers in the US.

We have voted in taxes for our teachers for the last 20 years, and the teachers are still waiting for their increases!

Teachers have the biggest scam out there. They are so under paid it is not funny is laughable. I would love a part time job that pays as much as they are getting paid.

So just looking at the numbers they are getting a raise but it is probably not called a raise. There goes that lie they have been telling.

At three years $41,000 (is a lot of money more than many here make.
So $41000/1062hours = $38.61 per hour of work. That is not too bad. How many here make above $35 an hour? I bet the number is very small. Now I do not know about your state but most let teachers get paid over the course of a years. So $41000/2080hours. That is still $19.71. That is not bad at all considering they really worked just over half a year.

How many in La get over $19 an hour? I bet it is not most in your state. Then we are to squeeze them for more money to give it to someone who hardly has to work for their cash? It does not seem right to me.

What I just did really only took me a few minutes of research. What is truly sad is the media can not take 5 minutes and do looking to see if they are spreading lies.

I won't debate teacher's salaries by painting it with a broad brush. In some States they are underpaid. In others they are very well compensated. What is unfair in my State is that the property owner foots the bill. They basically have a gun pointed at you. Pay or lose your property. The real travesty in this is the taxation without representation. Here they vote locally on school spending over and above the State level through "referendums". These seem to almost always pass. I think that is mostly because of two reasons. 1. They always float the idea of "it's for the kids". 2. Non property owners (renters) get to cast a vote on the referendum. Now you can say that renters are paying through increases in their rent, but I don't buy that argument. It's nothing like opening up your tax bill and getting a dose of reality. A good portion of our population are elderly and worked all their life to pay for a house. Now they suddenly find the amount of their tax bill going to the schools is larger than their mortgage used to be. So now we come to sales tax. This is the fair way to fund schools - and other government entities. Everyone pays, and everyone pays according to their ability to pay. You earn a lot, you spend a lot, you pay a lot. You're retired and on a fixed income, you don't buy a lot, you don't pay a lot. When the government wants to increase spending, everyone has skin in the game. Rant over.

Captain Dan, I totally agree with your statement. Most don't have a clue when the teachers day starts or when it ends. Their job goes way beyond the starting bell of school, and past the last bell of the day for the students!

Some teachers put out their own money for students so they may have special activities.

Timeout, you may have jumped the gun on this subject. A teachers work days go way past the school hours for the kids. Nobody knows how many hours teachers really put in their job. Some put their own money in so the students will have necessary supplies to work with. Teachers bring home their work weekly.

Plus the "environment" they work in is past the point of being bad! I am having to be nice on this subject! Today's teachers fear the fact they don't know if they will return home to ever see their families again on a daily bases.

Louisiana Teachers are on the bottom of the list nationwide. NO teachers I know have a "Part Time" Job! In Fact, they earn their Masters and end up with a job that pays in the low $40's. Some teachers work a second job, or work on weekends.z

A teachers life is not a great life, at school or at home. Where did you come up with your numbers that show a teacher makes $38.61 per hour?

I don't have time to go into detail at this moment, but I will comment further on this subject.

If this teacher has a low $40k annual salary, plus they have children of their own in school, the teacher is able to pay their taxes, "help" support their family, they barely have enough money to pay for clothes required to be a teacher, support a dependable vehicle, plus many other job related cost that must be taken into consideration.

I told my wife several years ago we would be better off if she stayed home and our available income would increase as she would not have the job related expenses! I know many who have three children making around $40K or so, and these people hold on to their job so they won't loose seniority! Sometimes they can't pay their monthly expenses with both husband and spouses salaries combines. Just let a sickness hit their family which last a few weeks. They are back in Credit Card dept for 2 months or better again!z

I didn't write the post that you quoted above!! BTW, I pretty much kept an entire plant running for 40K a year. Drove over an hour each direction to obtain that much money also. No free health care or pension plan and I had two years Tech school beyond high school. Thing is, if I wasn't satisfied with my job this is America, I could have quit and worked elsewhere. Yeah some nights. It is not every night. If you want to donate your time it does not mean we owe you for it. If teachers think we do then we should have them punch a time clock. I bet the teachers union would throw a hissy fit at the mear suggestion of a time clock.

I would never live with a socialist for a night let alone 20 years. I also can see through the lies they are spreading so I will not be changing my tune any time soon.

I do not know what your wife teaches but none of the teachers in my family have to do anywhere that much continuing education. Most of them also get that done during the school year.

If a Teacher has 30 students, 25 of the students have parents who feel their child is "gifted", ABOVE Average, and demand their child be put in an advanced class!

Their is nothing wrong will a parent feeling this way about their child/children.

I won't get on the "Teacher" subject . . .

For almost 4 years I sponsored a Baseball Team in my hometown. I had no coaching duties, or any other decesion making input concerning the teams. DON'T tell the parents this.

I broke my heart when my "wife" all but forced me to "never" sponsor a team again! The "conversations" (during the games), the pone calls all hours of the day and night, the calls and visits to her business, etc., only for us to tell the parents we have no coaching decisions or policy input the team has to follow.

All we wanted was to support the "School Age" teams and hopefully it would benefit the the kids one day!

It was definetly a shock to my wife and I! Never did we expect the parents to act this way towards us! I admit, after paying several hundred dollars to sponsor teams, it was very disheartening for us to accept this.

Sadly, we never sponsored a team again!

Let's look at "all" State Employees. Most State Employees, "especially" LEO's, Prison Guards, and all "Salaried" State Employees who are forced to work overtime "without" pay! They account the overtime worked, and hopefully one day they will be allowed to take advantage of the unpaid overtime whey worked. I forget the name for this situation, I will add it when I think about it.

I will definetly STATE "all" areas of the country are different, and have different situations to deal with at every city in the Nation. What we see at one point, doesn't mean it's the normal across our land! I see major differences in our State from city to city!

Here in ND we need teachers. We need them so bad we have created rules that allow someone to teach with an associate degree or a business owner to teach about their business. I did teach 5 classes over the course of a year. It was eye opening to say the least.

You are 100% "correct" on this statement. Teachers & Professors are "pushing" Socialism to the point it's disturbing!

Several of my friends, including myself allowed our children to attend LSU which is just a few miles from my home. When our children graduated, we were all shocked listening to their views on government and Politicians. They were all favoring "Bernie Sanders" and were quoting some of his famous bull**** lines. These kids graduated with "Engineering" degrees. They certainly were not taught this way at home, or in High School.

I can speak for my own, and now that he has been in the working environment for a few years, and his wife, who earned her "Bachelor" Degree are doing well financially these days, "HIS" views are starting to change a little, not much, just a little. (Friends can share similiar stories). The main item he is currently experiencing is their "Payroll" deductions, mainly taxes! Imagine that! Our conversations were intense. I explained what he must do to offset their "tax" liabilities now that his family is part of the population supporting our current government officials and policies. He actually stated he wasn't stooping that low like the current Politicians, and playing the games they do to "take advantage" of our countries laws. Actually state they put these laws in place to protect their own individual interest. Long story short, he is listening to me and one of his uncles on this subject, and is currently trying to put a plan in place that will benefit his family. I state he needed a way to relay this information to his fellow classmates so they will know "they" were the people being taught wrong!

I vividly remember making one example to him that actually started changing him around just a little. I stated to him under the "Bernie" way, if you were maintaining a 4.0 GPA in college, and the student/friend to your left was struggling to make a 2.0 GPA, under Bernie's plan, you should take your 4.0 GPA, and your neighbor's 2.0 GPA and combine the two so both of you would have an averaged 3.0 GPA. Then both of you should be happy!

This flew over like a lead balloon! He actually stated to me "HE" earned his 4.0 GPA, and couldn't help it if the person to his left struggling all the way could only obtain a 2.0 GPA (now listen to this), my son stated that was "HIS" (the friends to the left) problem, and not his responsibility to aid or give him anything he proudly earned in school to one who was not as smart.

I couldn't pass this opportunity up! He in no way could find a way to fight this. I made sure he understood this is the way it would work in the World "financially" under "Bernie's" plan. It was also a great time to bring up his 35% tax bracket he is currently face with.

He is currently "questioning" what he was taught in college under these Liberal/Socialist teachers. On my side,I can state it definetly was "pounded" in their head pretty good!

One of my nephews who was taught to become a Socialist and/or Liberal felt "so" strong, he was campaigning for Barack "hard" when running for his first term. After the election, this Nephew was elated and thought the second coming was headed his way. After a few years, this nephew packed his bags and left the country. He stated he didn't want anything else to do with it. He felt he was lied to just like he was with all presidents before Barak!

My nephew lived in China close to 10 years starving while he taught in one of the colleges in Shanghai! For some "strange" reason, China didn't want him anymore, and kicked him out of the country. He had no choice but to come back, and was so broke he couldn't afford to move back on his own! Imagine that! Plus living in a 400 sq ft apartment with one common full bathroom. He openly talks about his differences with our government, but it's not getting him any sympathy, or support. NOTE: The kid is smart, maintained a very respectfully GPA in college, speaks 7 different languages, and so on. He also has a student load debt of over $100,000 dollars, and states he does not intent to pay it back.

Teachers are egregiously underpaid. 6 years of school + a masters to make under 50K. Its one of the most important jobs in the world and yet one of the most underappreciated.

The "time off" is a joke. They never stop preparing and planning lessons, fielding phone calls from parents and admins, and they have to constantly keep up with changing state/federal requirements.

Not to mention all the parents who think they know better. Kids bringing guns and drugs up to school. Having their personal belongings stolen, etc... but it's never the kid or parents fault. Teacher takes all the blame.

Its a thankless job. I know high school drop outs who make more than the average teacher. Its sad.
