Looking for a bore sighter?

My bore, sighter went south on me and need to buy another. What is out there now that works good. Price is not an object

Set your rifle up good and solid on a bench and 100 yard target. Remove your bolt and insert your bore guide and rod guide insert into the action. Sight through the bore and adjust the scope to coincide with the bore.

I've always done the looky loo thru the bore with the bolt out, always seems to be fairly close ish... recently had a major problem when I took a vx1 off of my omega inline and put it on a model 88 winchester. Needless to say I shot more than a few just to hit paper. Was kinda wishing my tight ass a bore sighter.

I have a cheapie laser that goes in the muzzle and has adapters for different calibers. Worked ok. Works better now that I put a witness mark on the body after calibrating it with a sighted in rifle. Just rotated it in the bore until the laser coincided with cross hairs of a rifle that was dead nuts. Usually gets me within 2" or so at 100 yds. Best 29.00 I have ever spent.:D:D

I have an old Bushnell, works great . Even works after dark in the comfort of your own home ....unlike going to the range every time you swap a scope out like mentioned.

Look through the barrel and do your best to center it on the target, adjust the scope to the center of the target, shoot and adjust

Using my eyes has always worked for me. A clean barrel also helps. :)

Best is https://alleysupply.com/site-a-line/site-a-line-wiih-square-grid-reticle.html and they also make very good spuds. Next best is https://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-...-kits/professional-boresighter-prod79733.aspx and I also prefer the expansion type arbors over the spuds where possible (crown square to the bore).

I completely agreed. Site-a Line. I like the unit with the diagonal cross hairs. Only slight drawback is the need for individual caliber spuds. Very accurate. Can put you within inches at a hundred yards and you can bore sight in the comfort of your work area.
