Newer Savage Model 10 with rusty chamber

Not a dooms day report, I just see where it could head too. You caused what ever the rust issue was. Yet you thought Savage should fix it. So now that they probably did no more than run a bronze brush into it and clean it out, there could be some small issue, maybe,but I doubt it.
So I don't know how you can "damn" the gun or anyone when it was in your care after 500 rounds, what ever the cause of the rust was a result of your actions.

I ruined a barrel years ago with a solvent it seems no one else on the planet ever had an issue with but me. In three days it looked like a mile of bad road,full of pits from chamber to muzzle. My GS at the time could not believe it, #9 and that XYZ cleaner was all I had at the time.
I cleaned the cleaner out for many years after that, then a liberal amount of oil was applied and excess cleaned off.
I still am very cautious about leaving bore cleaners or the residue on very long.

Maybe a slight rant but not meant that way. Heck it's a Savage spin a new one on. I just picked up a model 10 with 100 rounds for a donor action.

Going back to chemistry class- dont mix cleaners. You could have made some kind of acid- who knows?

I'm interested in this because the same thing happened to my buddy. I was helping him work up a load in his Savage Hog Hunter 308 and we had one shooting .5-.7 MOA, which he was happy with. He took the gun home and didn't shoot it for abut 6 months. He brought it back and started shooting the same reloads; he blew the extractor spring and was piercing primers. We dropped the load WAY down but he couldn't get on target. Eventually he threw a couple through the backer...sideways. Something had gone so wrong with the barrel that it wasn't spinning the bullets.

Never looked at it in detail, it was garbage, we spun it off and I gave him another takeoff in 243 to use. I'll have to ask him what he was cleaning it with.

Ive left butchs and shooters choice in chrome moly barrels for a year with no ill effects. I guess its all in what you use

I primarily use the both of these with great results.

70 Wow, I may of had 70 over the past 50 years. I only have 5 now. Pistol, shotgun, 10/22, deer rifle 308, and every weekend custom. How do you feed a family of 70? Or house it. Gallons of solvent! Wow

Dont matter what that says its bad stuff. Took the coating off a dewey and bore tech rod of mine before i could stop it, busted the ferrule on the end of another dewey and rusted a jewell trigger up so bad it couldnt be saved on another one that came to me. Itll take paint off almost instantly which is weird because it feels like soap

I have been using BORE TECH Eliminator and other BORE TECH products for years, almost since they came out. I think it is good stuff. I have used it on numerous Brux , Shilen and Savage Barrels with no rust or other problems. No problems on my Jewell or Savage triggers either. I also have used it with Dewey and Bore Tech cleaning rods with no effect on the rod coatings. I also continuously check my barrels with my Hawkeye Bore Scope and have not noticed the Bore Tech products causing any problems. I don't see any problems with my cleaning methods and I will continue to use BORE TECH products.
