Not a dooms day report, I just see where it could head too. You caused what ever the rust issue was. Yet you thought Savage should fix it. So now that they probably did no more than run a bronze brush into it and clean it out, there could be some small issue, maybe, but I doubt it.
So I don't know how you can "damn" the gun or anyone when it was in your care after 500 rounds, what ever the cause of the rust was a result of your actions.
I ruined a barrel years ago with a solvent it seems no one else on the planet ever had an issue with but me. In three days it looked like a mile of bad road, full of pits from chamber to muzzle. My GS at the time could not believe it, #9 and that XYZ cleaner was all I had at the time.
I cleaned the cleaner out for many years after that, then a liberal amount of oil was applied and excess cleaned off.
I still am very cautious about leaving bore cleaners or the residue on very long.
Maybe a slight rant but not meant that way. Heck it's a Savage spin a new one on. I just picked up a model 10 with 100 rounds for a donor action.
Going back to chemistry class- dont mix cleaners. You could have made some kind of acid- who knows?
