6BR reamer thoughts?

I just received a 6BR reamer in the mail that I ordered off the shelf from JGS, and it has 3* throat angle. Can someone educated me on throat angle? I've noticed that a 3* throat angle doesn't seem too common across other prints. My intentions were to run 105 Hybrids with this barrel, or maybe have it throated for 108 ELD-Ms.

That is a 6br remington reamer- not lapua- is why nothing looks familiar. I think butch lambert has a bunch of the brass youll need stockpiled.

The Lapua, Norma case is bigger at the back end. I would try to exchange it for a 6BR Norma reamer. The brass for this is much better and the dies will work better. If you don't use Rem brass and a 6BR Rem die for that reamer, you will have trouble sizing and ejection problems. Matt

Other than the print name, what makes you say it's a BR remington reamer? I think @ .200 (.4714), the shoulder (.4609), and case length (1.570) is fine. I'll stand corrected if not, I was told it's the same print as #1262 minus the freebore and lead angle.

All numbers look fine with exception of leade angle. If you do have it throated that will change to the angle on the throater.

Thank you, that's what I assumed if I do get it throated for the 108s. Out of curiosity, whats the idea behind 3* angle? I've google'd the heck out of it and have found only a brief bit of information. Is there any cons over it vs say a 1*30" if I left the chamber as cut and shoot it with Hybrids or something similar? The current reamer I've been using (1 barrel) is definitely tight @ .200 (.470), my Forster die's have worked out with it so far, but I know it'll eventually catch up which is I why purchased this reamer.

I`d guess by saying it may be the fact it is a Remington print. Most factory leade angles are 3*. Your Forster die may be tight on this chamber. Redding S-Type FL may be the ticket.

On JGS print #1262, the freebore is .0940 (U&V) and the leade angle is 1-30-0 (J)...can send you a copy for comparison if you like. Built a 6BR this past summer off print #1262 and had it throated for the Berger 90gr BT Target...JGS measured a dummy cartridge and came up with a freebore of .0740. I was initially using a Redding Type S FL bushing die, but the B0 that Harrells sent me has worked out better.

This is a reamer I have owned, that I like a lot. It also is a stocked item.

They didn't have #1262 available, sounded like a 12 week wait otherwise I'd been on it. I did ask about it, and was told this print was the same minus the freebore and throat angle. I guess, if the 3* will cause me issues or be a pita, I could exchange it and be a little more patient.

I notice that the #1262 print you just posted has a .237 pilot size and a .237 bore. My #1262 print is for a .236 bore and has a pilot size of .2356. What is the bore diameter of the barrel you intend to chamber?
