Triggertech

Had a local gunsmith turn a older Rem 700 BDL 7MM Mag into a 300 WM bench gun. 26" PacNor heavy Palma barrel in a nice Bobby Hart thumbhole laminate stock from Stockys Stocks . I left the original trigger in it which aint a bad trigger but looking to upgrade now. Been reading alot about TriggerTech triggers and my smith highly recommended them. Thoughts ??? Thanks.

I’ve got one for both an AR15 and one for my Bighorn Arms TL3. I think they are fantastic triggers. Very crisp brake, very consistent, overall a very good feet to the trigger. The one in my TL3 is the rem 700 special, I have it set at about 1.5 lb, I don’t think it goes much lower than that. I have not had a chance to try the triggertech diamond, but I hear they are great and have an even wider range of adjustment.

Thanks mao0720. On their website they list the primary at 1.5 - 4.0 lbs at $165.00. The special is 1.0 - 3.5 lbs at $205.00 and the Diamond is 4oz - 32oz at $290.00. Those prices are for left handed because yes i'm one of those guys. The only difference i see in the different models is the pull weights ? Don't think i need under a 1 lb trigger so thinking the special might be the way to go.

Go with the Diamond, that way you can always go below 1lb plus it’s a lot better than the other two.

They have no overtravel and that is a bad thing in my opinion. I would recommend looking at the BixnAndy Tacsport. It is a much nicer trigger in my opinion.

I've got two TT Diamonds and both of them have what I would call normal overtravel (similar to the Timneys I had previously). Absolutely stellar triggers, break like glass with no creep.

OP, agree with your plan to get the TT Special if you don't plan to go <1lb, feel will be similar to the TT Diamond, just not as wide an adjustment range.

I messed with some on display at brownells a few weeks ago. They were nice, but they were for ar15s. I’m sure their bolt gun triggers are every bit as nice

BnA Tacsport's are great triggers too but don't have over travel adjustment either.

They do not need over travel adjustment. They have plenty already built in. I can not even begin to understand why someone would want next to zero over travel in a precision rifle. My comment made zero mention of adjustment. The Trigger Techs have minimum over travel. BixnAndys have plenty. In any case I stated my opinion. I tried Trigger Tech. They are not for me. Give me a Jewell or BnA any day.

Ah, I miss read your op. "they have no over travel" now I understand what you meant. Agreed on too little over travel is a problem.

Had been hearing some very positive reports on Trigger Tech so I bought a primary trigger(1.5 to 4.0 lbs) during a Brownell's July sale to try in a Rem. 700 6.5X47 hunting rifle. Got it for $106 shipped with the sale price coupled with a Brownell's promo. Trigger easily adjusted down to a very crisp 1.25 lb. pull. So far, very pleased with the trigger. Easy installation. Had to very slightly bend the tip of the bolt release to properly engage the bolt stop(sometimes needed for Jewells also).

I’ve had no issues with the TT special having “too little” overtravel. There’s enough for me to feel it, and enough that I can have a consistent follow through. I’m even thinking about changing out my Jewell on my FTR rifle to a TT diamond.

You really need to try them and compare them to other quality trigger to see what you like. Once you get to the point of deciding between a jewel, box & Andy, trigger tech etc it really comes down to preference. Personally I love the trigger tech but I also like the look of the Barnard actions that everyone thinks looks like a high school shop project.

Greg Taylor has nine tt diamonds for sale in the guns classifieds, all lefties

Triggertech are pretty nice if you run single-stage triggers. I am waiting till they offer 2-stage.

I have bought a couple triggers from rpierce (Timneys), good guy, good price, fast service.

It seems that about every shooter has a preference on triggers. Personally I cannot deal with creep in a trigger no matter what pull weight it may be set to. The Special and the Diamond that I've tried break like a glass rod and have no creep at all. They both adjust for weight of pull relatively easy and pull feels very consistent.

That being said, I'd recommend that you find someone who has one and test drive it before you buy it.

I have several aftermarket triggers by other makers, and the Diamond and Special that I've tried break cleaner than any of the ones I currently have. My concern with them is IF it fails, what is the procedure for getting it repaired/ replaced? JMHO WD
