What scale are you using ?

I’m on the verge of upgrading my scale & trickler setup and wanted to know what others are using ?

Currently I’m using a FX120i and auto trickler setup with the auto thrower. My new setup with be the Delta APM.

What is everyone else doing ?

My biggest issue with the auto trickler & thrower is it’s charge dependent for the trickler process. The Delta is kernel dependent.

On the auto trickler it throws the initial charge of 31.6 with a target of 32.2, the trickler starts up and is constantly reading the scale to hit target 32.2. Sometimes it over shoots cause speed of reading or a clump or kernels beats it to its stop. So now you have a overthrow by .02-.04.

With the Delta is throws the initial charge of 31.6 and calculates how many kernels it needs to hit target of 32.2. Let’s say a estimated kernel weight of .015 it’ll dispense 40 kernels to hit target 32.2.

Not sure if it’s a better system since it’s still the same scale but I feel the trickler will be faster and eliminate overthrows.

Any pics ar websites for the Delta?

I use an old sartorius lab scale that I bought surplus that will measure to .005 grain. It isn't that accurate outside the lab where I don't calibrate quarterly and temperature control the room but it is very quick to resolve to less that one kernel of powder. I throw with a RCBS chargemaster .1 grain short and then manually trickle with an Omega. I'm not very happy with the omega and would quickly spring for a new trickler that would reliably trickle one kernel at a time. --Jerry

That trickler on the Delta looks like the same design as the Prometheus trickler. I do agree that's the better system at controlling how many kernels get dropped into the pan, rather than a potential clump falling out of the tube.

Of course, you could also manually trickle just by doing the math yourself and cutting kernels out of a pile with a straight edge.
