Rem. x mark pro trigger

Has anyone messed with the x mark? Is it worth messing with ? My smith has half a box of them he has replaced ,offered to give them to me as he hates them

I somewhat agree with GenePoole. I owned one rifle with an X Mark. New it broke at 6 lbs and I couldn't adjust it under 5 lbs.

I have heard stories that they can be reworked by a few smiths but why waste money when you can get an after market for the price of reworking the X Mark? The biggest problem I've seen with them is they are encased in epoxy. I can't blame Remington for that after what was done to them over the last triggers.

I have a couple I reworked I keep as emergency spares for my Jewell. Not hard to swap out during a match if I blow a primer and disable the Jewell. Other than that, they're not great.

Had one re-worked that broke at 3 pounds

That’s as good as I’ve ever had an x mark.

Normal is 5 pounds and the creep feels like the trigger is bending....

They are hot garbage

I have one on one of my prone rifles which is set at 2 pounds and is a good as any single stage trigger I have. WH

A Remington 700 chambered in 270 Winchester that I owned had a Remington moment and fired through my wall with the safety on don’t make that mistake replace it!!!

Make sure Ya' chunk it way out in the weeds, so ya' don't hit it with the lawn mower!

Ive jerked a box full of them out but the ones ive messed with worked very nice. Never an issue with repeatability and always worked well on budget hunting rifles

Has Remington replaced these with new and improved?

Since they are so cheap and I have the old drilling/ reaming fixture for converting early 700 triggers to 3 levers , I just started evaluating the parts and the new design of the 3rd lever .
It's not worth the effort with today's many great triggers available , but I just like tinkering .

Your best option for any of the MIM'd/JUNK Remington X Mark trigger groups is to scientifically place them on a hard surface & compact them with an accelerated 4Lb drilling hammer & dispose of them.

Those that are "happy" with what they have are the ones that buy their 700 on sale for 375.00 with a 50.00 rebate, put a bushnell 3-9 scope on it, shoot it a dozen times at the range till they're recoil shy, hunt with it and wound three animals until they get lucky and miss one in a lethal spot. Those are the ones that are happy with their X-Pro. Go to a gun store after hunting season and the rack is full of these.

I have one for emergency use only also. I have an Xmark (not the pro version) that I replaced the spring in and it has acceptable pull weight on my son's hunting rifle.

Just make sure you keep one. In the rare event you need to return a rifle to Remington, it better have an X Mark Pro in it, if it shipped with one. Otherwise they will put one in the action and charge you for it.

Kind of like the old Walker triggers. If you send one it with any the seals broken, you just bought a new trigger for the return.

I have had a few with the XMP triggers. A few were not very good. The rest were terrible and would not adjust at all. Feeling the trigger bend is is very appropriate.
