What is the average primer pocket depth for a .223 or 5.56? The brass i have here is between .1185 and .120 is that about normal ?

Thanks

I use American military Lake City brass and uniform all the primer pockets. And make sure the primers are below flush in my AR15 rifles.

If you can't get your primers below flush it could be your priming tool. The primer should be seated with a "slight" primer crush with a preload on the anvil.

Below a exaggerated example of seating the primer with a slight primer crush. With a priming tool with good feel you will feel the primer bottom out and seat.

Good diagram. Main takeaway here is “good priming tool”. The pot metal tray types, bench mounted with a 2’ long handle, or press mounted units wont do this. A good tool you can feel every step and is the only way to finally rule out primer issues

Ive got a K&M hand priming tool. Ive got to swage this brass first. Still debating on the swaging tool. Thinking about a mighty armory. The brass is IVI military.

Ive used the dillon and the rcbs type that goes on the press. The rcbs unit for the money works fine. May be a bit slower but youll get used to it
