How many would

How many of you would buy a rifle here when the seller hasn't been around for two years. has no feed back selling or buying, says it is low round count but not original owner, not sure about the stock maker?
Lets be honest 2k+ is a lot of money to take a gamble. Would you?

Not without knowing a lot more. And I am one to trust first. But I would start with learning more about the rifle. If I got to the point where I felt the rifle was what I wanted and I was confident in the condition, then I would work on trying to see if I could trust the seller on the deal.

You can ask for a three day inspection or have a local member to look it over for a third party opinion. I buy used guns all the time. I just add up what the parts would cost without the barrel. If I’m within $100 of the asking price, I’ll risk it.
On the stock ID question: I’ve bought a few used guns with stocks I’m unfamiliar with. Unless I look at the original add(which I make a hard copy of, these days) I can’t remember who made it. :(

I'm in the park on making an offer because it is what I want and would cost around the same to build but it is already done. Buy today shoot tomorrow no wait time. But 2grand plus is still a lot of $$$, for an old retired firefighter.

Does the seller work for Vortex Optics in Middleton, WI ?
Serial # on action to date it (1st two digits = year made).
Who smithed the rifle?
With the inserts, rings don't look like Kelbly rings I am familiar with.
Not a glue-in. Ask for picture of bedding job?
Has barrel been bore scoped?
Definitely want inspection period.
Is the parent cartridge the 6.5X47 Lapua or is it a 30X47 HBR based on the 300 Savage?

If the guy has been here 2 yrs and has posts, I would if you truly want that gun. I was one of the first Gun Broker buyers-sellers, and remember some anguish mailing a MO, it is way easier to deal with things today.

Talk on the phone, get details.

Years ago I bought quite a few big dollar doubles on the web. Sometimes just verbally agreeing on a three day inspection is not enough. People have a habit of not answering the phone or e-mails once they get your money. I bought several guns over 20K and I always used an escrow service. Zero issues. If the seller balked at using escrow I kindly thanked him for his time. There were a few "screaming deals" that I passed on and still wonder if I did the right thing. Best advice I can give anyone getting ready to spend a significant amount on a gun across country is that "you cannot go wrong in doing nothing and walking away", at least you still have your money. Only you can say what "significant" is......how much can you stand to loose???

Time to get busy with pming! Look at the thread and you’ll see that the previous owner came forward and the stock is Speedy’s work.o_O Comes with a scope, I noticed. That’s attractive!;)

If the money is close for what you can have one built - build one. You get to dictate the specs and exactly how you want it. The build time gives you the opportunity to look for dies, bullets, powder, etc. etc. Just my opinion - if a new one costs are close to a used one - go new.

Good luck with it.

Ask the seller to bring it down to the FFL holder that will be doing the shipping and talk directly with the guy in the shop, a non bias partisan. If the seller won't do that, then you know something is up. We've done this in the past at our shop.

very very good idea
