your opinion, Scale will be used to load ammo for 1000 yds. BR.
Thanks for any reply.

I'm not quite positive which Redding scale I got from Scott Parker, but I use it a lot and it's right on with my digital scales, very consistent and repeatable. It will move noticeably with one kernel of powder. Now saying all this ..... please note this is a tuned scale from Scott Parker, so there's something good to say for Redding if that's what Scott prefers to tune.

Thanks Darrin,
Can you please post a picture of your scale?

Hi BigMac
I use a 1010 beam scale after charging with a dispenser, as long as your not in a hurry beam scales are really good.
Think Vintage like a OHaus 505
Lyman M5
Or RCBS 1010
The Older Redding I hear are really good as well
look for NEW JERSEY not MEX

I never found a speed difference between electronic vs. throw-and-hand trickle. Both seemed to run about 25 seconds per round. The much more expensive auto throwers and tricklers are faster but at $1000+ for a system they are out of my budget since I have plenty of time but not as much cash.

I have the scale. It works fine when checked with a set of check weights and against an electronic scale. it is sensitive to wind, vibrations, and the like. The pan is quite ok and takes about a minute to adapt to its shape.

I just bought a used Redding #2. I like it a lot and that says a lot because I have a bunch of these:
1) RCBS 5•0•5
2) Lyman M5
3) Ohaus 10•0•5
4) RCBS 10•10
5) Ohaus 10•10

The #2 lacks the floating Agate bearing system of the above scales, but so far, in practical use, I have not noticed any loss of accuracy/function. The scale lacks the storage functions of some of the above. The rest of the scale is pretty comparable to the above, and Scott Parker has posted here that he recommends them as an option.

Do you mean to tell me Scott Parker didn't enclose a precision white cloth cover. Lol.

Thanks everyone for your reply. Will contact Scott about a used tuned scale.

The older Redding No 2's are certainly better if you can find one, the differences are subtle but they all add up.

This is a video comparing the older Redding 2 to the newer ones and a complete rebuild/tune.
