Scope,mount and ammo?

I think you need to temper you expectations and your options. I don't wanna be a dick, but your not gonna hit 2500m and defiantly not on a cold shot. Have you done the level 1 or 2 training? Are you there to learn or to brag to your friends? 90% of your training will be inside 1200m is my guess. Spend all the money on your scope and get solid rings. Without a good scope, rings and base, you ain't gonna hit shit. FFP with 25x magnification (S&B, Nightforce, Vortex, etc) A simple 40 moa base will work fine. Focus on learning and making high percentage hits, not equipment.

This isn't YouTube. This is real life. If the wind sucks on that day you're there, nobody will hit that target with any gun. Forget about distances. Don't be that guy. Go prepared to learn and be a good student.

Absolutely there to learn, IMO learning from Rob Furlong ELR is like learning from Ken Block on how to drift your car. He has used what he knows in practice and is recognized for it. Like I said I am sure if I get a cold bore shot it will be a fluke or even hit at 2500m it will be a fluke. In the video I think it takes Mark 15 Shots before making one hit at that distance. If I however can do it or actually do it. It’s just proving concept. But I do think it is plausible. Easily repeatable no.

I would be doing all courses back to back as much possible. My 11yr old Daughter recently took a precision rifle course and I thought it was a serious joke. No theory just sight your rifle and shoot at 100m. She was using my Rem 700 Custom shop .223 VF. The were however shooting the erasers of pencils.

A friend of his(Rob Furlong) is a customer of ours. I was planning on doing the Level 1 and Level 2 with my 5R rem 700 .308Win. I am actually hoping the course is kinda theory heavy. IE external ballistics and such. (I already have Brian Litz’s Books). I am usually not one to brag. I don’t even have any interest in competive shooting. I more like to challenge myself. As I said i am just a dude passing his time with shooting.

I eventually would like to offer a course at our range that is 1 week of 3hours theory 3hours practical. That is not just a cash grab. Like most courses are. After seeing what other courses offer. Best one in Ontario is at Milcun Gun range Linda and Keith are great teachers and have a lot to offer students.

If you have some vacation time, consider a father/daughter stint at the Williamsport 1000 yard benchrest school. Highly skilled shooter instructors, good comaraderie, food and you don't need to bring a rifle or ammo. You can show up and shoot on Friday with the school and more shooting on Saturday and Sunday.

Aside from all us noisy ones, have you nailed down the information you originally requested? I'd be interested in that information.

Good info. 7Mag is really only a 1 mile gun, anything after that is pretty lucky. I would look into getting a really, really nice scope and use the same rifle for every course you take. Keep it simple and consistent. School room stuff helps some, field training (and matches) is where you will actually learn. Good luck!

1 for 15 is not really shooting. If you can go 5 for 5 at 1400m, you're the man!

He PM'd me and my response was, "I had one and it was excellent. More difficult/less user-friendly to adjust than the Ivey (which I also had)but substantially lower cost." FYI, both my Ivey and ERATAC have been sold. Re Ivey - call 615-896-9366 - site down while it is being upgraded.

Ignore PM.
