Does Lock-eze help with cold bore zero?

Does swabbing a freshly cleaned bore with Lock-eeze minimize first couple shots having a different poi? And does it help to prevent copper fouling? Thanks guys-

POI question - Not in my experience, on a 6 dasher/brx it's ~ 50fps slower than your fouled barrel shots. I do believe it helps in the copper fouling based upon my testing...it's not a HUGE improvement but does help that first shot not being shoved down a dry non-fouled bore.

If you used even remotely as much Smooth-Kote as you do regular cleaning solvents, that *might* matter... as it stands, not really.

Cold bore accuracy is totally possible and you can tune for it (lot of work). I do & the best prefouler I've seen is a dry burnishing of WS2 (Tungsten disulfide) to a clean bore.
If you put away a bore like this, the first shot when called on will be as good as any to follow, and this hold for years. Actual powder fouling is not this stable, and you shouldn't leave it in there for extended periods.

I built a 25-06 Stevens a few years ago and did the Smooth Kote on the new factory barrel and have a dime on my keychain that was a first shot, cold bore at 100 yds. Clean up was made considerably easier. It worked for me.

I was in a benchrest match sitting next to and chatting with a HoFer. He swore by Lock Eze.

At the time, I coated my bullets with HBN. I had good results running a swab of HBN in 99% alcohol down the bore.

The barrel doesn't care whether it is cold or hot. It does however make a difference whether it is clean or fouled. Cold shooter syndrome.

“Cold bore” is the term I’ve always heard when referring to first shot poi, that’s why I used it.

I bought and tried lock eze when I first started shooting ws2 coated bullets. I also tried ws2 mixed with alcohol for the same reason. In all honesty, it never seemed to help with either. I should rephrase that...It was never a problem, to begin with. Most every barrel I've had would place the first shot slightly out but settle right down from there. Since they all did this and the lock eze nor ws2/alcohol made it no better, I stopped messing with them. I just dump one round and go. I have stayed with ws2 coated bullets though, as I feel it helps significantly with reducing fouling.

Cold, clean bore accuracy is subjective and based on the needs of the shooter for his/her discipline. That said, I can not recall ever having a barrel that would produce EXACTLY the same poi every time, from a clean, cold bore, as one with a round or so fired first. Again, this is subjective. If you have a .500 gun, you may well never notice a .3 poi change, i.e., a hunting rifle at most practical hunting distances. JMHO.
