Clean barrel as normal. Using Eliminator or wipe out first to get fairly clean. Then use IOSSO after to get stubborn spots out. Works very well. I do this every other cleaning. No issues

Regarding carbon, there’s a product called piston kleen that is very mild, but if you soak parts in it, it turns carbon to mush. The trouble is that it takes hours. It’s crossed my mind to plug the bore, fill it up, and let it sit (the stuff is cheap- $20 a gallon or so). But Ive never done it. Works like a charm on nasty AR bolt carriers, though.

I recently tried CLR for the first time, based on the advice of a nat'l team member.
Worked the first soaked patch though...it came out coal black...looked like a piece of carbon fiber material.....couple more patches, then a dozen strokes with a nylon brush, after a couple more patches, the next one stayed as white when I inserted it.
Nothing else I've used is even close to this stuff.

I wanted to try CLR but was leery of it in the barrel. I tried it on the front of a revolver cylinder to see if it worked. Damm! Took all that carbon off in nothing flat!

CLR:I went to the manufacturers website. It states that it will not harm stainless steel or chrome moly. I've used it and found that it works very well on carbon.

WOW: I have never seen anything like CLR! I am thoroughly impressed to say the least. I had cleaned my barrel using my standard cleaning procedure (which consisted of Boretech eliminator and JB) and still had some carbon build up so I decided to wait on the scrubbing and put CLR to the test. ONE patch with CLR and the patch came out looking filthy and the results were amazing! See the before and after pictures after one patch.......

AND the second best part is Target had it for $5 / 28oz!.... for a lifetime supply!

We're talking about CLR. the bathroom cleaner..? It's mainly citric acid I think , like lemishine...

Just be darn sure to oil the bore when done to get any moisture out...it will effect some finishes I know this for a fact because we have hard water and use a lot of this product , so I would be careful what you get it on .... Other than that why not , like someone posted $10 is a lifetime supply..lol

Other than water, the main active ingredient in CLR is lactic acid...not citric. Do a search for CLR MSDS. The ingredients and percentages are on the first page, then you can do a highlight, right click and from the drop down list choose the search option to look up each ingredient.

The CLR sold in Australia has sulfamic acid as the active ingredient. Barrel cleaners beware of what you are using to avoid an expensive mistake...

Boyd, you are right. The old bottle had sulfamic acid in it. The formula has obviously changed over here.
