Where to buy

I hope this is the right place to post this. A friend has purchased a .22 hornet and is looking for the best place to buy ammo for it. He has a reloader but it is in storage right now so he is wanting to shoot factory ammo for the brass. He doesn't want any foreign ammo (PPU) or the likes. What say you? Thanks for the help also..

You can always Google ".22 hornet ammo for sale" .
I've done that. That is expensive ammo. I told him I would break out the reloading gear and go that route. I had one many years ago in a TC Contender and didn't really like it. People say in a rifle cartridge it is wicked. Just thought someone would have a good place he could buy from.. Thanks.

Yeah, well, people say lots of things. I've had a lot of 22 Hornets that shot like crap and one good one.

If he's really after the brass PPU is very hard to beat. When Hornady kind'a screwed up the 17 Hornet brass there was a mass migration to PPU. There is a long and detailed analysis on Saubier.

Loaded Prvi ammo from SGAmmo.com is 45 cents a round. New Hornady brass will cost you about 54 cents a piece and loaded ammo will be close to a buck.

Thanks for the info. I personally don't think much of the hornet. Would rather have a 22 magnum myself. The hornet I had in TC Contender was not impressive to me at all.

I absolutely love my .22 Hornet. I was thinking a 22 Hornet with a 35gr -40 gr v-max with 3100 fps has better ballistics than a 22 magnum. I know I have killed several ground hogs over 185 yards. My longest was at 215 yds. I even killed a coyote at 189 yds. I am shooting the Savage model 25T. As far as factory ammo goes. My gun shoots the Hornady 35 gr v-max the best. It really shoots well for factory ammo. I think Savage recommended the 35 V max when I purchased my Hornet new. I reload for it most of the time. 35 Gr Vmax. 13.0 Lil' gun powder. I use PPU brass and Hornady. I have run into a problem with Hornady brass a few years ago. The flash hole was smaller and my decapping pins would not go through the flash hole to knock the primer out. This was from certain boxes of factory ammo that I saved the brass. Look around for good deals on factory ammo for the Hornet. It is cheaper now than it was 3 years ago for sure and you can find it!!!!
