Preliminary 6 BRA testing ball powder

So the other day I asked about testing ball powders in the BRA and like cases. This morning I tested H380 with a Bart 103 bullet jammed .015 at 100 yards.

I shot a couple rounds to foul the barrel and get an idea of where to start to get my velocity at the 2900-2930 range.
I won’t give out powder charge but first group of 5 at 100 is 2907 avg and second group is 2928 avg for 5 shots.

So next I’ll take this to 300 and then onto 500 and 600 for fine tuning using the new Ezell tuner.

James,
Impressive results. However, I don't understand the read-out on the calipers in your second post. If this is edge to edge, with a .243-caliber bullet, it should be at least 0.220 or so out-side edge to outside edge, but your caliper shows 0.0220. That's 2.2 hundredths of an inch. ??

Did you pre-set the calipers zero?

I zeroed the calipers on the same bullet I was using. Then I measure outside to outside. It’s easier to measure outer edges than trying to do one outer and one inner edge.
So that .022 is the actual group size you’re seeing.

Boss: James, what is the distance from edge to edge on the green box outline. From the outside edge of the green line to the outside edge of the green line on the opposite side of the square. I want to compare that with some other targets.

I think if you measure a single bullet hole that it'll be smaller than the bullet diameter. It seems to matter what the paper is as well as the bullet design. Bullets like semi wad cutters cut really close to bullet diameter while pointy vld bullets make an undersize hole.

H380 flows out of a measure like water. Following with great interest.

Yea that’s why I can’t give any powder charges as I kept dropping until I got the the velocity node I wanted and once I did I loaded five then dropped five more at approximately .2 grains more and took them to the bench.
